    So Melo lost zero pennies on this "buyout" / "waiver", best scenario for the Rockets.

    Wow, the Hawks are paying Melo his FULL salary in the buyout. The Hawks get like no benefit from this and OKC benefited HUGELY from this.

    Sam Presti is amazing.

    Hawks didn't want Dennis and the remaining years on deal. Made it easy for both sides to make it happen. He very well could have had little to none trade value after a few of his spats with players/etc.

    nice signature! its a testament to nba being purposfully rigged when a rookie gets benefit of the call several times vs mvp

    Well they still got a 1st rounder (protected...ugh) which is the best asset in the trade but yeah, not a fan of how the Hawks gm is doing so far.

    Presti is a good GM. It's up to Westbrook to screw everything up. Once again, Presti has brought in pieces to make OKC a really good team on paper. I have full confidence that Russ is going trash the process.

    @BimaThug

    How does OKC save $100 million when Scrhoder makes $15.5 million and Muscala makes $5 million?

    Still absurdly over the cap

    In addition, Oklahoma City will save an additional $11M in salary savings with the Dennis Schroder $15.5M contract and the $1.5M cap hit of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. The Thunder now have a payroll of $148.7M, down from $159.6M. The roster in Oklahoma City also improves with the addition Schroder, a starting quality point guard that will back up Russell Westbrook and adding a young wing in Luwawu-Cabarrot. Instead of having the $9.3M dead cap hit with Anthony on the stretch provision, Oklahoma City essentially is paying $5M for the next three seasons for a 24 year-old point guard who has started 161 games in five seasons.
