Good for Morey and fans, so this thread will argue the brainwashing merits of an extra 5th discounted year. In Capela's very young situation, an extra discounted year is worse, not better. A better deal would be 3yrs at $51m...with a PO for a 4th as injury insurance. 3yrs is the compromise, not more years. Gets Capela to 7yr tenure, and a big raise opportunity SOONER.
I count $18m in base + likely incentives. All you did was add $500k for 41 games and 500k for 10rpg. $18m at 5yrs isn't a compromise betweeen 17 and 25. Imo, we are looking at discounts in reverse For Capela's situation, the compromise on significant discount rates is less years, not more. I would put together a compromise, discounted 3yr deal that gets Capela to 7yr tenure, and a significant raise opportunity SOONER.

Capela wants Adams pay of $25m for 4yrs Morey counters $8m lower and wants an extra year at discount. And you think $7m per yr less, while still asking for the extra discounted year, is a compromise. On a scale of 17-25, 18 is not a compromise especially when you are asking to lock in an extra discounted yr. I think the compromise will be more in the LESS years side of things...if Morey wants maximum discounts.
