Can Hakeem prosper not being the GO-to-guy?

I don't think hakeem's game is suitable to not being the go to guy. Drexler during his playing days always would go-to Hakeem. Sure Drexler was vastly talented both in College and the Pros, but Drexler was Hakeems sidekick. Every time Hakeem excelled, he was the go to guy in criticall game time situations.

Barkley was also the go to guy everywhere he went, though he insisted that he wanted to be Hakeems sidekick and would himself be satisfied with leading the league in rebounding, he never kept his word. Hakeem was essentially Barkley's sidekick, and that was not right!!! Hakeem would fade for streaches of period. "I came to miss the words, (that's money in the Bank) after every Dream Shake."

Now, after last year and the 180 degree turn; to playing a different basketball style of game, Hakeem looks fit to return? Or, so he says! But, he is no longer a go to guy. Sure this hakeem if healthy can run circles around Cato, but what can hakeem do being a third or fourth option on Offense.
Will hakeem be satisfied letting this guard oriented offense lead the way without he DEMANDING the ball and throwing the entire rythm out of sync.

Hakeem for next year may only play 20 or so minutes a game. And if he gets that many minutes, then hakeem is excelling. So, unless hakeem is satisfied getting rebounds and blocking shots; it may be time for the Rockets to put Hakeem near the end of the Bench. Hakeem's play would only deter where the Rockets are headed!!!

If nothing else, this season would be ideal just to have hakeem go around the league and get a deserved farewell tour. Now that seems more like it.

When I first read the subject of the thread, I just asked myself "does he have a choice"?

My guess is that if Hakeem's getting only 20 minutes like you stated, he won't be a huge factor on offense; especially if he's playing like he did this past year.

Don't worry. In another year it'll be all over. Thanks for the memories Hakeem, but your time like everyone else's will come, too. Some may say it already has... [IMG]

He has a nice mid-range touch, especially from the baseline. So, yes, Francis and Mobley will both be able to set him up.

If either one could ever learn how to pass.

Rockeem-I agree about Mobley, but Francis can and will pass the ball.
