Calvin Murphy is the only one with some common sense in Houston apparently. Shooting just the 3 ball is incredibly idiotic. This is where Morey's "analytics" have failed. Miserably. You take the best shot on the floor - no matter who shoots it. Not the supposed superstar. The guy who is open should shoot.

Sure...of course most of the Rockets teams that featured Calvin green lit to shoot at will from all ranges were mediocre to horrible non-playoff teams, but what could possibly go wrong?

The rockets haven't chucked from 3 these last 2 games and taken a lot more shots from midrange. The 3s were coming within the offense or if the shot clock was going down and they had no choice. Love it!

They were running up and down the court to chuck up a 3 for a REALLY long stretch. If they came, they came within the offense as I said. I don't have a problem with them shooting it within the offense, it is pretty clear when they are chucking it.

Gotcha - one thing is the lack of Harden and the iso 3s. Guys are working harder for the good 3s vs chucked 3s. As good as Harden is, he sometimes gets the ball stuck in his hands when the team is desperate to score. Last two games, the guys are working harder for the drives into the paint so less chucked 3s. I agree, it's fun to watch them drive hard.

Can't dispute that. Harden is obviously so intergral to this team that we have to make it work...best of luck to the coaching staff because I really liked the team effort tonight. 7-8 players in double figures...

Exactly. Our current system is designed to fit our personnel. If we had a bunch of Tony Parkers on our squad I'm sure things would be different.

yep them jordan midrange jumpers were teh biggest keys to the bulls 96 72-10 run. he was still athltic in 96, but was clearly not as athletic as he was when he was in his 20s, and that midrange jumper racked up alot of valuable 30 year old boring points.

That mid range jumper did indeed do that. Now if you can get Morey to obtain a 30yr old Micheal Jordan, I would never speak against the mid-range shot for the rest of my life.

    Not making 3?

(defense giggles as he watches idiot after idiot chuck from 3 over and over again)

    Chucks 3

(defense leaves a distance equivalent to that of a FT inside of the arc wide open...something thats a layup to most NBA players)

    Rockets chuck 3.

    Its like watching a circus.

It's so incredibly aggravating, nobody wants to drive to the basket EVER, and no one on the team right now is shooting well. On top of that NO ONE wants to play defense. It is getting harder and harder to root for this team.

It seems like opposite defenders are glued to our guys, and we're always leaving separation when we're defending. We can't beat our guy off the dribble, we don't shoot mid rangers because we don't create opportunities to shoot them. When we do - we shoot em.
