I just read an article in an Atlanta based newspaper and it said you would be able to find Popeyes locations that sell the cajun turkeys online starting Nov. 1st but it's not up yet. I sent a question to the Popeyes.com customer service email box asking them for a list of locations in the Houston area that sell cajun turkeys. I'll post here once, or if, I get a response. I've bought turduckens and various stuffed chickens from Hebert's Meats in the past and they were very good but I still had to do the cooking. If this Popeyes cajun turkey is as good as everyone says it is then I may try it this year.
BigSherv, I sent you the form for the Popeyes I use. They do serve theirs hot if you pick them up. Or you can get them with re-heating instructions. Unfortunately, all of them are either in southeast Houston (clear lake, friendswood, etc.), or one up by Greenspoint, so if you don't live close, may not be the best option. tommyboy, or anyone else, if anyone wants to see an order form for info, email through the board.
What about a good smoked turkey? Not those sucky, dry store bought ones. Where could you get one of those?
The one on Stella Link. If yo go to the website and search locations. You will see a turkey and a message saying locations with this color dot may be offering friend turkeys. here is the link for houston http://direct.where2getit.com/cwc/a...alcode=77025&RADIUS=20&submit.x=20&submit.y=4
So I roll up to work after a Dr's appointment today and what do I see my Sr. Director doing? Frying a mf'ing turkey in the parking lot. Man it was really good. I am glad I am getting one this year.
I'm looking up recipes and how-to's online for frying a turkey. Anyone got any details or recipes themselves they would like to share? From what I've read so far it seems that you don't need to season since it will be fried, and about 3 minutes a lbs. plus 5 minutes on top in 350 degrees. This about right?
i love thanksgiving. i deep fry a turkey my cousin smokes one and my mom and/or aunt bakes one it is glorious.
We have 2 of either. Last year it was smoked and roasted, this year it is going to be roasted and fried.
Tried to order one by my house the other day but the dude didn't know what I was talking about. Some high shool kid, lol. Do I have to buy it online or it depends on location? That **** is good.
I used to fry Turkeys every year and then one year I tried Popeyes. We've had a Popeyes turkey every year since. You pick it up cooked, but still have to re-heat it in the oven and that can still take 1-2 hours if done properly.
Smoked Beer Can Cajun Turkey for me. Super easy to make and super juicy. Popeyes is good too though. Id just rather have 2 young turkeys than a big older turkey.
Do any of you have or tried a oil-less turkey fryer? I've seen them in the store but never tried one. Just curious if they are any good.
Never tried one but they got some really bad reviews on YouTube that i saw when I was interested in one I'm gonna see about this Popeyes turkey. I've got family from Philly coming in for Thanksgiving and really wanna blow their minds with a Cajun turkey. Hopefully they won't blow up my toilets
