I think that Walker and Curry deserved it much more over cj because they actually added/improved things to their game. Cj just got much more minutes and to his credit managed to maintain efficiency but thats all. Didnt add anything.
Steph Curry at 4th? I mean he won mvp last year... Has it ever happened someone winning the mvp and wins MIP later on?
Curry's improvement was pretty dramatic. 3.5 jump in PER and he hit 116 more threes than last season while improving his shooting percentages. That's unusual for someone that's already an MVP.
Shocked Curry didn't win it. I thought Lowe had Curry for MIP, DPOY, MVP, ROY, and NCIS. The entire ESPN crew did.
I think CJ will be all right. He's an extremely versatile scorer. Lot of MIPs have been great. Love, Dragic, Granger, Z-Bo, etc... so I think your assertion is incorrect and only applies to a minority of MIP winners.
Brooks, Hedo yes. Granger was hurt but averaged 24 the year after MIP. Hedo averaged 17 the year following. He declined with age and obesity. Dragic declined but he's still be relevant. None of those players had a "death sentence" after their MIP seasons.
Can anyone compare the stats between Westbrook this year, and last? He's great, for sure, but I feel like he was a legit candidate for MVP last year, but not so much, this year.
