    Out with the old

The new nba, where dwights, rondos, and asiks are a thing of the past. Guards have to be a threat behing the three and bigs have to be a threat from 6 feet out.

Damn, Rondo looked fantastic in the playoffs before he got hurt. He was dominant against the Celtics.

Can Canaan be a decent 4th/5th guard for us?

Rondo gone, so do they buyout Wade now and start that rebuild? Not that Wade would want to come here...

This probably means Wade will be bought out. In which case Wade will go to Cleveland taking them out of the Carmelo/George chase. But if Rondo goes to the Knicks means no buyout for Melo? So many moving pieces

    No.

He looked promising at one point but we can do better.

icyni, I posted this in a previous thread

    Cool random stat

If the Rockets pick up Rondo as a backup (say, if nothing else to prevent GSW from getting him after a rumored buyout, hence Bulls selling the Jordan Bell pick), that would give the Rockets the last 6 APG leaders in the NBA on one team. And the last 10 leaders who are still active (Nash won in 2010 and 2011), but Paul was second in 2010 and Rondo was second in 2011. :D

ps: don't bother arguing the merits of Rondo as a vet-minimum backup, I'm just trying to show a cool stat.

Guy shot 37.6% from 3 this year and 36.5 last season, he's become a very respectable shooter.

Also was a beast in the playoffs.

On 1.9 attempts. That means he has to set up to shoot. Terrence jones shot better from three when teams gave him time to set up.

Yea, but comparing the percentage to players with similar per game attempts, he's clearly one of the better shooters.

Jones also had only one season of above 35% and the rest was way below 32%.

Rondo of course isn't elite from there, but teams won't be able to leave a 37.5% shooter open all day, which creates space for others.

teams will leave rondo if they need to. he's not a legit threat from there. that volume and type of shots he needs from 3 is not nearly enough to be a big enough factor to be game changing
