What are you expectations of a president?

Not in looks or party allegience but in:

    Ideals:
    Education:
    Background:
    Ethics and Morality?

I was going to do a poll but that is limiting.

In terms of ideals, the big one for me is non-partisan. He should not consider himself the leader of his particular party. He is the leader of the country, and his primary job should be to get both parties to work together for the good of the country, accepting unpopular compromises as necessary.

At this point the bar is so low, I'll take anyone that at least pretends to care about the entire country.

This one is kind of tough for me because the my two favorite presidents included one liberal and one conservative.

If I could combine presidents it would by Teddy Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan.

Ethics and Morality - Jimmy Carter
Everything else - Ronald Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt

I don't see how you can do much better than Eisenhower. Strong ethics and morality. Excellent diplomatic skills. Fiscal responsibility--in particular an appreciation that the operations and oversight needed from the nation's government must be funded by those who can best afford it and ultimately benefit most from them--the ultra-wealthy. He cared for the people of the nation, and he managed the executive branch with a measured hand. He kept his eyes and ears open and learned from all he witnessed.

I would say that I place a higher weight now on a background that includes experience in our intelligence services or the FBI. Interesting that Bush 41 had such a background. However, a president today must be resistant to the influence of big business and such special interests, but hold more concern for improvement in education, preservation of the environment, working to improve quality of life for all Americans (e.g. reparation of the wealth imbalance), rebuilding our infrastructure, more encouraging of innovation. It is also imperative to recognize and respond strongly to the changing face of international threat--cyberwarfare/psy-ops.

A return to dignity and decorum is also an absolute necessity.

Morey/Hinkie 2020. Just take the emotion out of governing and run it straight by the numbers.

I think he’d quit once he realized he’d have to work with the Secretary of Defense.

Ideals: None. I prefer my president have no philosophy. He should be heavily influenced by the last person he spoke to and change his positions based on the crowd he appears in front of. He should also be capable of switching views within the same sentence.

Education: Preferably a poor student at a business school his father muscled him into.

    Background: Slumlord, fraud, womanizer, etc.

Ethics and Morality: Narcissism is very important to me.

A sensible anti-Trump Republican would do it for me. But those are REALLY hard to find. Maybe Nikki Haley would sort of fit that bill?

Maybe Dan Crenshaw? Smart (Harvard educated), not a chickenhawk (clearly), critical of Trump's campaign rhetoric in 2016 and will be liked/respected by both sides of the isle. Very little political experience, but look at the guy we have now.....

Honestly the best candidate to be an effective President is Chris Coons of DE.

I figured no ONE PERSON would have all of the ideals and experience
so I was leaving it open.

I just want to see where we TRYING to go . . . .most candidates will fall short
