Former NFL star and "Police Academy" movie actor Bubba Smith was found dead Wednesday at his Los Angeles home, according to police and coroner's office officials. He was 66.

The L.A. County coroner's office said it has not determined a cause of death, but officials believe he died of natural causes.

Smith was found at his home on Sunlight Place in Baldwin Hills by a caretaker, police said.

Smith was an NFL defensive end and tackle for the Baltimore Colts, Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers. He later had a career in Hollywood as movie and TV actor.

    RIP man.

Didn't know he was in the NFL and played for the Oilers. I'll always remember him as being a part of my favorite movie series in my childhood years.

Yes, he was a great college player and was selected as the first pick in the NFL draft I believe. He was a good pro player, I remember him playing for the Oilers towards the end of his career.

Sad. Of course, I remember him from Police Academy. But what I remember most were his moments paired with Dick Butkus. And whenever one half of a famous duo passes, I always wonder how the other half feels. RIP to Bubba.

The timing was freaky because Police Academy is hardly shown on Comedy Central.
