That's my fear too Mango. Perhaps for that reason, we need to 'invent the need' for another team (considering the crop mentioned will be available to the respective teams). This also forces my hand on the 'closed system'. If Drew is not comparable to the top 4 pgs in this years draft, would he be valuable in a trade to Atlanta, exchanging the 6 and 9. For Atlanta's needs they'll get the exact same pick they would at 9. For the Rockets, they get something entirely different, a pick immediately before the Bulls at #7. ------------------
IMO, this offseason merely has two requirements to be considered a success: 1. Resign Cuttino Mobley. 2. Determine if Cato, KT, Carlos, Miller? and potentially Massenburg can handle the rebounding/banging at the 4/5. If not, acquire a 4/5. Let's assume not. I'm convinced if these things are addressed, the Rockets will be a top 5 team next year in the West. that being said can Bryce Drew resolve #2, the rebounding problem: Two questions (assume that this is a closed system, and not dynamic because of the #9): 1. How does Bryce Drew compare to the current pg. crop, including: a.) Crawford b.) Cleaves c.) Dooling d.) Barkley 2. Using the information from #1, Would Bryce be attractive to the Pistons at 14, Clippers at 18, or the Raptors at 21 (thereby allowing for another chance at a rebounding force (Harvey or Olumide or Somthinake))? ------------------
Not in the top four that you mentioned. Rank Drew at #5 if he was in this year's draft. Mango ------------------ Live long and prosper. Donate blood! Now...back to updating The Serious Police Files.
