With the addition of P.J.'s contract and Bayless, the Raptors now have over $20 million in expirings and young talent (Bayless, Davis, Wright) to trade for Nash and whatever other contracts Phoenix wants to dump in the process.

A no brainer for TO, bringing Nash back to Canada to finish his career. Not saying it will happen but Colangelo has them positioned to take advantage of a huge fire sale in PHX.

It's going to take a lot more than Davis, Wright, and Bayless to get Nash. That package would be similar to us thinking Budinger, Patterson, Lee would be enough to land him -- not happening.

I think it's far from a no brainer and extremely unlikely. Toronto is rebuilding -- Nash is a 36 year old point guard. Why on earth would Toronto trade what young assets/draft picks that they have just to get a PG whose only going to decline? It makes no sense for them.

nash in Raptors=Yao Ming in Rockets. Not sure how popular B-ball is in canada but I'm pretty sure the Raptors are hurting for fans now since they suck.

Secondly PHX aren't exactly contenders themselves. After Amare left the team got divided into two, old guys about to retire (Nash, Turkeyglue, Grant Hill) and the youth brigade(the other Lopez, their shiny new pg). I can certainly see Raptors trading expiring contracts+Davis for Nash.

Toronto is one game out of the top 8 in the East. Adding Nash to Bargnani and Derozen puts them in the top 4 in all likelihood. Add in a couple peripheral pieces and you have a competitive team. Amir is a young big who would thrive off Nash along with Bargnani. All the pieces are there for them to compete. Betting on the lottery is a lot more of a longshot than going for a player like Nash. Yes, he is 36. Will he decline some? Sure. But from what level? He was the MVP for a couple years. And Nash's game is not a high-wire act. He is not going to lose his handle and his floor vision. His shooting may decline slightly. He may be a step slower. So what. He's good for another 4 years if he wants to play, and he would make Toronto a contender.

Toronto does the deal all day long. The only questions are if Phoenix decides to break it up or ride him out into the sunset and what else can they get for him if they decide to trade him?

I watch a lot of Raptors games (love Bargs, DeRozen, Weems) and their games are always packed. But this would really pack them in.

If Phoenix wasn't a contender with Steve Nash and Amare, there is a 0% chance that Toronto would be a contender with Nash and Bargnani.

I didn't say Phoenix wouldn't trade Nash -- just that they could do a lot better than having the centerpiece be Ed Davis (Bayless/Wright are both very average). And we have no idea how good Davis is yet. The best trading pieces Toronto has are Bargnani and Derozan. Do you really think you can get Steve freakin Nash for your maybe 3rd best players and change? It's not happening.

You don't want your young talent on expiring contracts, especially when the free agent market isn't eye opening.

Toronto's Euroleague hopes would really be augmented.
