I hate being that guy but it's downright laughable knowing some of you think we have a snowballs chance in hell of winning this game. I mean seriously, how many times does NE have to embarrass us in front of a national audience before folks realize they outclass in every conceivable way.... why on God's green earth would anyone think that this is the game where we'll miracoulsy turn it around??? We'll be lucky to keep it within 2 td's. manage your expectations.
16 point underdogs, that has to be some kind of record hopefully players will use that insult as motivation
Of course. This was also all true back when this team did have a functionally solid combined offense/defense. New England has basically owned the league minus the occasional loss at Denver, struggling against joe Flacco of all players, and then getting beat by Eli of all players (it's funny to hear Pats fans irrationally scared of the latter two QB's, who've looked ever bit as mediocre as the bunch the Texans trot out). In the end, the Texans are playing in the final four in a game they have no business winning. This is sorta why people like sports. Sometimes things go as planned, sometimes they don't. They were actually favored at NE in the game earlier this year. I'm enjoying it regardless.
When they faced each other earlier this year, Fuller was coming off two amazing games and he was the hottest player (let alone rookie) in the league. Belichick not only set up an amazing game plan to neutralize him, it served as a blueprint for the rest of the league to stop him... and he hasn't shown the same sort of surprising separation since. That being said, why not go for it. There's little chance Belichick puts her same gameplan out there anyways. I would also really like it if our punt/kick returners don't f it up this time too.
Both Eli and Flacco usually play well against everyone come postseason. Their regular seasons are subpar, but they've shown to be clutch in multiple playoffs. Brock has a chance to do similar. Raiders defense is bad, but he deserves some credit. Zero turnovers and he limited his near-INTs too. Baby steps. Brock steps.
Maybe.... Healthy Watt, Texans defense never ranked #1. Injured Watt, Texans #1 ranked defense The stars are aligning!!!
Last time the Patriots failed to make it to at least the AFC Championship was 2010. It's going to take some uncharacteristic turnovers (and us not turning it over) and probably something like a ST return TD for us to have a shot.
It isn't. 1998 Cardinals were 16.5 dogs @ 15-1 Minnesota (Vikes won by 20). Joe Namath's Jets were 18 point underdogs against the Colts in Super Bowl III.
I hate to be that guy too, but yeah.....this game will be over before halftime. I was glad to be wrong about the raiders game, but I'm not going to be wrong about this game.
Everyone is really worried about Brock turning the ball over (and rightfully so). But what worries me the most is Tyler "Butterfingers" Ervin returning punts and kicks. The dude fumbled TWICE on Saturday and was lucky we recovered them. Put fuller or someone else back there PLEASE.
Hey the Patriots have lost a divisional playoff game at home before to the Mark Sanchez led Jets after beating them 45-3 a month earlier. Weirder things have happened.
You never know with out defense. Could cause some turnovers. I just don't have any confidence that our offense can manufacture anything at all.
Uh maybe because we're fans? Seriously wtf, do you know how sports and sports fandom work? You must be the type of fan that expects and hopes for failure and apologizes or excuses success.
