Sad. What could have been if it wasn't for the injuries. When healthy, he was the best center in the league (say, from 2004 on).
Sad day for Rockets fans. I really enjoyed his time on the Rockets. Such a great person. I hope all the best for Yao!
Who would have thought that both Shaq and Yao would retire in the same year. This is so depressing. Retire his jersey.
Solid player. He surprised no one with the length of his career and no one with the injuries, but I think he surprised everyone with how good he was. The passes to steve and cat his rookie year were more than we hoped for, his banging under JVG made him a true big man, his teamwork throughout was a gift. I have nothing but applause for the big man. Great career. Congrats on making the tough decision! I wish I could retire!
Yao, thanks for being a Rocket and thanks for carrying on our big man tradition, both with your play and with your humility and hard work.
Whats even worse is that the Rockets cannot do or say anything about this right now because of the stupid lockout. Sigh
I think this is great news. He can now fully rehab and wait to ocome out off retirement until he sees what the nba is doing, then we will sign him for the minimum. And let him help up win a. Championship off of the bench. Well at least I can hope
Yao had a great season when he was healthy. now that he's retiring i hope our next center gets healthy for the whole season.
I can't believe it and won't believe it until the Rocket announce it. He is one of my favorite players that played for the Rockets. I wish I tried to come back this year through the lockout for vet minimum.

It's nice for Rockets fans to finally have some closure, but it's a sad day for Rockets Nation. We never truly got to see just how great he could have been, but he still gave us plenty of moments to be proud of. Good luck with the rest of your life, Yao.
