Sad news for Yao. Good news is that the team can now move forward.

Can the Rockets file for another exemption to have Yao's salary off the books like last year?

I wonder if the MRI will reveal a strange eating utensil protruding from his body.

    Sad about Yao :(

with that being said Les can no longer use him as a cash cow and compromise putting up a winning team (which requires expanding payroll) like the past few years.

Time to move on and start new.

This. Rox and Yao now have direction...very cold to say but reality. This opens up tons of possibilities that the team did not have before.

If this is truly the end, isn't it ironic that the franchise's two saviors ended up with a parallel exit.

I do wonder if Yao playing with a 24 minute cutoff was a compromise between the medical people and management. Might the doctors have recommended that Yao sit out, and the Rockets decided to play him with the limit?

There was clearly a very good reason to impose a strict limit on his playing time. But the Rockets were playing with fire to have him out on the court at all.
