What.. the most certain thing I can guarantee is that the Knicks will botch the next few years of Porzingis' young career, and he will bolt at some point in the next 3 years. This is like thinking Trump is going to change because of some hotshot Italian wannabe gangster named "the Mooch" became his press secretary.

You guys must be new to the New York Knicks. They are going to ruin Porzingis if they haven't already, and if he doesn't want out already, he will sometime soon. You can take that to the bank.

well thats the thing, they can't hold him because he has the ability to turn into a cancer. he'll ruin the locker room by sulking and talking **** about teammates performances and losing. he'll ruin the games by playing selfish hero ball. he'll talk to media.

no one will be happy there and other guys will start to want out too. namely porzingis who is already unhappy but can be turned around. after another year of melo-drama he'll be requesting a trade too.

melo's agent can also put the squeeze on the team by threatening to divert other FA's in the future... although the knicks need no help repelling FAs.

there is no benefit of keeping him if he insists on going. the knicks are well within their right to say they dont want to take a bad contract in return for giving up melo for less than he's worth. but they really can't ask for more than that.

lets give them the benefit of the doubt here. lets say they understand those points. looking at it through that lens, maybe they agreed to some 3 way trade with the rockets already and are just saying "look, we'll do this trade, but we want to keep searching the rest of the summer just in case something better pops up. if nothing comes up by training camp we'll do it the way it is now."

The Knicks have gotta balance their desire to have a cancer-free training camp with their competing desire to shaft Carmelo Anthony. Since he's got an absolute no-trade, they are pretty hamstrung with their no-Carmelo policy that they instituted by signing Hardaway again.

It's a mess that they are 100% responsible for. We've got time.

There is a reason for that.... nothing is happening right now. The Knicks and Rockets already tried working out a deal and called every team in the league to get involved. Nothing was worked out that pleased all the teams involved..... so there wasn't a trade and to count on something magically changing is a real stretch.

I am not saying Anthony won't become a Rocket, but it will require a material change by one or both parties to happen.

Also not getting Anthony until training camp isn't ideal for either the Rockets or the Knicks. It tells me it isn't as simple as some think.

Their best hope is a 3rd team loses a PF somehow/someway and wants Anderson. The pony up more assets for NYK, and we get melo.

    Think Teddy Bridgewater/Sam Bradford scenario.

    Edit: Their being the Knicks

Exactly why we were able to get Ty Lawson on eve of camp 2 yrs ago
He was a drunk causing his own legal problems, which were causing PR circus for young team trying to start fresh

Nugs knew that time bomb would poison their team
They held out as long as possible, but in the end, took the same lowball offer Morey probaby made up front months earlier

Melo's willingness to waive trade kicker to come here will be enough for NY not to force buyout out of spite
Dolan will eat Ryno's contract instead ultimately

Neither Ariza nor EGo will be included
We will have inside track to WCF
    Morey's Jedi memes will resurface

And Knicks will continue to be Knicks
Porzingis & his agent are already plotting their exit strategy

At this rate it isn't really breaking news. It's barely even tearing. Maybe it's pulling news?

It's funny to see people make "this is what happened" posts w/ such certainty, like they were personally involved in negotiations

That sounds like a young Melo; he is a lot more mature IMO. At the pinnacle of Knicks disrespect with Phil Jackson, Melo remained professional.

Evan delirious fresh off his assistant coaching double OT defeat in the TBT tournament.

    Get some rest, Evan.

How could Evan's team have lost with Non-Urban Patrick Beverley leading the charge?

Had 5 fouls early in the second half. Fouled out before OT. He was also the only PG on their roster.

Knicks fans dont realize suggesting to sit Melo until he opens up his list is counterintuitive to building a new culture.

To put it simply, Knicks fans and the Knicks in general are idiots.
