    They said as much in the beginning when this all came out and Morey has certainly been acting as if its a long term thing. The Knicks won't really start to feel pressure until training camp starts, so Morey is just waiting for that to occur and once the Knicks' seat is hot enough, they'll either easily hand us Melo or they'll buy him out.

    "Houston is prepared for the fact that these negotiations could run through August, September, possibly into training camp as NY tries to rebuild his value & threaten people with the idea they'll bring him back to start the season."

    Not #imminent.

    Yes, this is the quote I was looking for the other day. All indications seem to point to Morey knowing this is going to take a bit.

    Honestly though, I don't see how in the hell the Knicks are supposed to "rebuild his value". His value was never changed by simply saying negative **** about him. We're not stupid enough to believe anything the Knicks have to say. They're a **** organization so you have to adjust your perspective based on that.

    His value is:

    33 years old who can play at an All-Star level for maybe 3 more years.
    2 years/ $54 million left on his deal
    mainly a scorer, below average defender

    That's his value. Its not going to change between now and September.
