So you are saying that we should treat Watson as if he's going to be a bust like RG3 until he proves otherwise long term? I mean, I guess that's one way to go, but the team has limited draft picks and to get a Kirk Cousins type QB as a backup you'd have to trade up into the first or early in the 2nd....seems like a waste of asserts IMO
I would have gone for a backup that can make something happen when the protection breaks down. Immobile QB's have no chance until we fix the offensive line. Can Weedon run at all?
No one is confusing him for Deshaun Watson or Michael Vick. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...Brandon-Weeden-scrambles-for-7-yard-touchdown
Bill Obrien: we are installing an entire new offense this year! Als bill Obrien: we brought back weeden because he knows our old offense!
i guess he wants deshaun to be in the pocket more (Not scramble as much) but our Offensive line suck so bad that he had too. (Also if thats the case, then you better get some more weapons (TE that can catch and make plays for him, Another Slot receiver (think more like a Cole Beasley, Edelmen Type of receiver, Another RB that can catch and run (not sure whos out there in Free agency.. (Deshaun needs all the weapons he can have( and at the moment Braxton Miller, and lamar Miller are not helping in the Receiving side. Fuller gets hurt to often
Probably a smoke screen since everybody is watching tape of last year and figuring out how to respond. He'll probably add a wrinkle here or there, unless he's thinking about a zone blocking scheme, but I doubt it.
I do agree that we should keep Watson in the pocket more, but the OL will probably suck again, and like you mentioned we still need TE, RB, and slot WR.

"This is a guy that brings a great attitude into the meeting room," O'Brien told Texans TV. "Knows our offense. He was here, even though we're changing it a little bit. He has an understanding of the foundation of the offense. When he was available, we felt like it made sense to bring him back to Houston." "He's actually gone out and won a game or two for us when he's had to play," Gaine said. "Brandon's a good teammate. He's got good arm strength. He's got size. He's got pocket pass ability."
I took the entirely different offense comment as b.o.b finally doing away with the uggs offense and leaving them back where they belong, in new england grabbing baby goats. Watson is a play action and rollout god.
Sounds like third string money to me. I'd bet he is either a number 3 or not on the team by the start of the season.
I hope so, but I'm trying to understand his comment that the challenging part would be teaching due to Watson's skillset. Why would that make it harder?
