This. Rox fans are incorrect because losing him for nothing (buyout) in some cases is better than trading him in a complicated deal that brings back 15 to 25 million in meh salary.. just for a draft pick maybe...

I said it before that without Ariza/Capela/EG going in the deal it's hard to see it getting done. And as you mentioned... do we really like Melo that much, or are we just in love with the one that got away? Look at it this way... we get to keep really good depth and now we can start filling out our roster with more good min players.

Also you can't say that Les is cheap ever again. Gave away millions for salary for a trade that never happened.

You know how many aging stars have had to sit for a year or two with teams they didn't want to play for? Im sure they could care less if he opts in. If he doesn't like it... increase your trade options.

why is everyone so shocked? That's actually a sign of sanity from the Knicks FO.
Also all those reports about what a great return NY would receive back are proved ot be a load of bs.

Melo should walk down to the practice facility and slap hardaway in the dick and speed this process up.

Knicks need to get rid of the circus like atmosphere.

They can't in one breath say they want to trade him and let Phil Jackson bash him and then in return try to keep him. They've done enough damage.

A franchise stands little to gain by keeping a disgruntled star player on the team when he doesn't want to be there. Either Melo expands his trade options (unlikely), or the Knicks will end up buying him out. I don't see any way he remains on the team unless he was trolling all of us or something.

We saw first hand what happened with the Dmo mess and he's nowhere near the star that Melo is. If Melo wants out and throws a big enough fit about it then he's gone.

they aren't trying to keep him. They want not to receive back negative value.
Enough damage? The world doesn't revolve around Melo. He will be unhappy if he doesn't get what he wants to go exactly where he wants? Too bad because he still gets his check in the mail.

Ironically, I feel like the trade is closer to happening now than ever before.

The Knicks world currently revolved around Melo.

How can they talk about accountability and unselfishness and then pull this crap.

I was sure Morey must have included picks in the deal. There was no way to do the deal without giving up a key rotational player other than Anderson (which i know Morey does not want to do) or a draft pick. After the Paul trade and the Harden extension, i was pretty sure Morey would be willing to give up a pick and take a real shot at winning now.

How do you know Morey didn't offer a pick?

They're holding onto the pipe dream part II free agency '18, but this is what they'll get:

Noah, THJ, Lance Thomas, Ron Baker (player option year two), and CLee

Why not go 100% toxic assets and ask for an NBA bailout?

If he were to open up to other teams. . . what teams would they be?
Boston - Maybe but they don't want him
OKC - Good Choice but Honestly . . .Melo is a city kid

    Who else stands out?

I get the feeling Melo wants his money but WINNING is important
    HE doesn't want to be TMac status . .. . he doesn't want to be a . . HE WAS GREAT BUT . . .. .
