The Knicks are a perfect fit for him.

If Irving brings another superstar to knicks or clippers, knicks or clippers will trade Irving out later.

Knicks shouldn't even sign Irving because he is not a first option.

What if they draft RJ Barrett? What if RJ becomes #1 guy over Kyrie? And, if the Knicks don't reach the playoffs or get past the 1st Round.

They had a superstar who may have been a better scorer than Kyrie. The Knicks didn't have success, like you think.

Knicks vs. Nets has never looked more like a rivalry.

The Knicks have the requisite salary-cap space for two maximum-contract free agents and want to sign Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Nets also have two max slots and strongly believe that Irving is leaving the Boston Celtics to join them.

In the Nets’ dream scenario, Irving not only signs on but persuades his good friend Durant to join him and to entrust his rehabilitation to the considerable medical staff that the Nets have assembled. Of course, Durant recently told Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes that he “can’t be recruited” — “Write that,” Durant said — which would suggest that the Nets should fear Durant choosing the Knicks and luring Irving away from them.

Word is that the Nets’ guard Spencer Dinwiddie, after a breakout season on the floor, has had a significant role in recruiting Irving to Brooklyn. Irving’s recent decision to change his representation to Roc Nation, with its well-chronicled ties to the Nets through Jay-Z, has only amplified the notion that the Nets are the overwhelming favorites to land Irving.

Yet it’s also true that Kyrie is the captain of the N.B.A.’s Anything Is Possible team. The Los Angeles Lakers and even a return to the Celtics are presumably on his list somewhere. So the furthest I’ll go, this far removed from free agency’s opening bell, is co-signing the view that Knicks vs. Nets is finally a derby worthy of Gotham.

It’s not Real Madrid vs. Barcelona yet, but there’s hope in the New York air, too.

Irving looks like a contract teams will regret.

Injury issues, always had injury issues, and hasn't proved that he can lead a team anywhere. Not sure why the Nets want him. Knicks better off passing on this one but they won't. They will try to use their two max slots no matter what.

These fools gonna end up with Kemba and Tobias and its not going to be enough to even be the 4th best team in the conference.

As a Celtics fan, Kyrie is going to be the most hated man in Boston. This guy has ruined our locker room chemistry, lied to the fans, and has really stupid beliefs. Glad this cancer is going to be off the team and Tatum can be the man.

Especially when I've already got a championship under my belt - a historic one at that (if i'm Kyrie)

Nets are unable to sign another star with addition of Irving.
    Why get rid of russell?
    Crazy.
    Irving max 142 mil
    Russell max 117 mil

Kyrie hurt his stock heavy this year...nobody really wants him unless they’re bringing in another star as well or already have a star in place

Kyrie in BK with a bunch of role players and kids will just be a worse version of the Celtics

Better be careful what you say about the Nets. Marks has played his hand well there. Very well. If they get Kyrie, Tobias and another guy for DLo...to go with Lavert, Allen, etc., they're going to be making noise for a while. And they could just keep DLo while taking in Kyrie and Tobias and hold DLo for the Warriors in a year.....

The Nets are being very very crafty......very crafty.

Agreed with both of you. If the Nets bring in Kyrie while shipping out Russell, and get no one else in return, it's the most lateral move, ever. I'd rather sign KD to the max + give out a bunch of 1-year contracts and wait out the 2019 season, than get Kyrie.

At the end of that year, KD can play basketball again, you'll have a bunch of contracts coming off the books, and you can now sign some max FAs. And if some of those 1-year players impressed you, then that's even better.

Kyrie seems like a pest, Nets should chase others.
