NEW YORK — The Miami Heat's Chris Bosh and the Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson were today named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Tuesday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 2.

Bosh averaged 25.7 points (third in the conference), 11.3 rebounds (third in the conference), 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals as he helped Miami to the East's lone perfect week at 3-0. He led the Heat in scoring, rebounding and minutes in all three games, and posted two double-doubles. In Miami's season-opening 107-95 victory over the Washington Wizards on Oct. 29, Bosh tallied 26 points and added 15 boards, and connected on 3-of-4 three-point field goal attempts.

Thompson led the league in scoring at 29.7 ppg, as he shot .455 (10-of-22) from distance and .913 (21-of-23) from the foul line. He scored a career high 41 points on 14-of-18 shooting from the field on Nov. 1, during a 127-104 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. To close the week, Thompson poured in 29 points at Portland on Nov. 2, including hitting the go-ahead shot with 8.9 seconds remaining during a 95-90 Warriors win.
Here is a recap of the week for Bosh and Thompson:

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta's Jeff Teague, Brooklyn's Joe Johnson, Chicago's Pau Gasol, Cleveland's LeBron James and Kevin Love, Los Angeles Clippers' Blake Griffin, Memphis' Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, New Orleans' Anthony Davis, New York's Carmelo Anthony, Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan and Washington's John Wall.

It really sucks how close we were to getting Bosh. Good job by Riley keeping that team together.

Harden finishes week 1 8th in the league in scoring(4th on a per minute basis), 9th in assists(12th on a per minute basis) and 8th in PER while his team goes 3-0 with the 2nd best point differential in the league.

    Not even a nominee...

You guys really think Bosh would have been a superstar with us?

Why would it be any different than playing with Lebron & Wade? I think he would have taken a back seat here too

Thompson over Anthony Davis seems interesting. Klay has been insane though.

he'd be back to his natural position at the 4. he wouldn't put up the numbers that he'll get this season with miami being the no. 1 option but houston with bosh would have been a nightmare for teams. he still has plenty of game left and might be even more dangerous now that he added a 3 point shot to his game while adjusting to playing with lebron these past couple years.

And almost had a triple double in 3 quarters while playing solid defense. The hate is strong.

This is why a players per game averages can be deceiving.

So many people thought Bosh was no longer capable of what he is doing just because he hadn't shown this level of production in years. The thing is, he was asked to do other things and was still really good at them, the box score just didn't always show how good he was.

Would have been the same here. His averages wouldn't look as nice, but he still would be that player and we would have been incredibly good.

Hold on a sec. Let's see if that was a "good job" in a year or two or three (or even later this season).

IIRC, Bosh often exploded at the beginning of regular seasons at Toronto before cooling down considerably. I believe there are a couple of Raptors fans on the forum who can confirm (or refute) this.

Don't let a hot start mislead you. He will come back down to earth. Bosh can't pull a sled for very long.

Eeeehhh, it's funny that now I kinda feel what all my Spurs fans friends have been feeling for the last decade... not being appreciated untill the end. Now that there's no drama/story line the we don't make it on the headlines. Oh well, I can't wait to win the Championship. I hope we keep up this defense!

It's no use talking about whether he would have come to Houston. He didn't choose us.

Well, Harden is shooting .367 from the field and .353 from the 3 point line. Of course his TS% is decent since he flopped out 36 free throws in 3 games. Maybe the voters for this player of the week thing don't care so much for flopping.

I remember when I made that "Bosh should be our priority" thread that a lot of people were saying he was washed up and couldn't put 16 and 8. Well, if 26 and 12 is "washed up", then the majority of the league is "washed up". lolol

Now that he has added a legit 3 point shot, he can be terror for any team. To think we could of had that with Harden and Howard is depressing.

Don't know if I should be surprised Harden didn't get any votes. On one hand, we did play some weak opponents but the way the narrative is going for Harden, he would have to be putting numbers greater than Jordan while playing shutdown defense to receive anything other than the typical "He's good but where's the D?!"

Yeah his 3pt shooting hot right now, but he has done an amazing job becoming an excellent shooter from range over the course of his career. He is the best shooting PF behind Dirk. Plus he has put up numbers close to this during his Toronto years. With his skill set he should continue be a top notch player into his mid 30's.

The Heat would have gone down the toilet if they didn't sign Bosh, so it was a good job. They may not win a title, but they at least have to give themselves a chance by having the necessary talent in place. Plus the cap will be exploding in years 4 and 5 of Bosh's contract so it's not like it is a bad contract.

It's the Spurs dilemma, against the lakers we ended the game in the 3rd, harden sits out the 4th, the warriors sucked their way through then ran the score up at the end. You're not going to win awards doing that, the league doesn't like that, because people stop watching.
