I'm assuming he's asking for a lot more than he's worth which is why the Bobcats couldn't agree on a deal with him.
I wanted Henderson. He'd be a nice backup to Harden. Has a nice mid-range game, can get to the rim and the best thing about him is I think he could be a lockdown defender if he focused on it. I would offer him MLE money all day every day. No more. No less.
I'd offer Henderson the Room Level Exception to join a franchise on the rise with legitimate championship aspirations for the next 4-5 years as opposed taking ANY offer the Bobcats can throw his way to stay in the hell on earth that is the NBA's most inept and embarrassing franchise today, in the past years, and probably for at least the next few years going forward. Henderson should jump at the chance to sign with the Rockets, for pennies on the dollar even...
He had better be asking for an obscene amount of money; otherwise, the Bobcats are about to lose a very solid player. Something that, given their pathetic talent level, they CANNOT afford to do.
Eh. Doesn't seem like a Morey player. Coming off a good season Looking to get a long contract Wing player with low range Selling high No true exceptional skill Doesn't address a more pressing need at the 4 for the price (guessing 5-6mil/yr range)
Isn't there some fan in Charlotte that has a Gerald Henderson jersey? What will he do? Life just aint fair.
I really like his game. Hope we can get him. Certainly better the casspi or Williams Hope Dwight wouldn't be too bitter about that poster he was put on
As a team we value the 3 point shot and lay-ups. In fact we shoot the least amount of mid range jumpers of any team in the league. This guy shot the most deep 2 pointers of anyone in the league last year. PASS. Also -- enough of this 'hey we should get this guy' nonsense. Just because they're around and available doesn't mean they belongs with us.
Would like to grab him for the Rockets, but if his contract talks are stalling, I'm assuming he wants more money than we can offer.
He's restricted. Why won't the Bobcats just wait for him to sign an offer sheet and then match it? Now for me to guess at the answer: perhaps Henderson knows the Bobcats would match on any offer sheet he could get but he doesn't want to play in Charlotte at all. So, he won't sign a deal with any other team and won't budge off a ludricous price for the Cats in order to force a S&T. And the Cats are now accomodating him. I would think the team would be best off just waiting him out. Henderson would blink first. They could then trade him at their leisure for full value. But, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to hear S&T offers now to see if anything strikes their fancy.
