Lakers have lots of expectations. If their fans think this young team is gonna win a lot, they're gonna get disappointed.

Yeah, its hilarious to see all these fans and even media member saying that they will make the Playoffs. Yet those same people were saying holy **** the West has gotten deeper with all these guys moving from the East, like Butler, George, etc. Also seeing how much stronger some teams that were at the Lakers level have gotten better like the T-Wolves.

I feel so sorry for Lonzo, cause he is like Jason Kidd. Kidd never carried a team, he made other guys better but couldnt put a team on his back and carry them. They putting Lonzo as like a combination of Kidd, Magic and still think he can carry a scoring load as well. With all this they will struggle a lot to make the playoffs (I would say its like a 5% chance of them making it), and Lonzo and Ingram will have all the blame on them, and be called busts and so forth. Its going to be very interesting to see how they do. I truly think that Lonzo has a chance to be a great passer and pure point guard in this lead. The thing is even Hall of Famer pure PG's couldnt get it done alone. Lonzo should ask Magic that.

I said this in another thread, but to recap here - the recent history of great passers with limited scoring skills isn't particularly favorable for Lonzo. Ricky Rubio was a next level passer and he could play some defense too(something Lonzo is very weak at) but his success has been tempered by the lack of ability to finish at the rim or create for himself off a screen. You could say the same thing about Rondo. Lonzo is probably a better long range shooter than both of those guys, but his funky shooting mechanics and lack of scoring anywhere else on the court will make it tough for him to run effective ball screen plays to take advantage of his passing ability.

I do think like you mentioned, Lonzo can be really good with the right roster around him, but that's not something they currently have, or will have with Paul George even.

Kidd carried a Nets team that had no business being any good to two Finals appearances. Yes he got smoked by the Lakers dominant dynasty and then fell 4-2 to the Spurs, but he still got to back to back finals. That's a carry job.

Oh no doubt he carried them to the finals, but he had guys that could put the ball in the rim. He had Kenyon, Kerry, Van Horn, Jefferson (even though he was still developing a jump shot, but was super athletic and a great slasher). The Lakers have almost no shooters or scorers. They have a 7 footer that can’t even rebound.

I don't care about Lonzo, I'm rejecting your argument that Kidd never carried a team

Sorry maybe my point was out of context. There are two Great PGs that I can think of that carried their team. Steve Nash & Jason Kidd, however my point is that they couldn’t do it all. They needed the guys around them to make them truly effective. Look at Chris Paul, even he knows he can’t carry a scoring load. I never said Kidd didn’t carry that team. Plus this is a thread talking about The lakers who are pinning so much on Lonzo being great his first season. Like I said though man, on those Nets teams that made it to the finals 3 consecutive years, they don’t get there without Kidd. Other guys were replaceable.

For real Lonzo is a very good passer. He's exciting to watch. Lakers are inching closer to the post season. I hate the fakers but I'd watch them here and there for fun.

Can't wait til lavar starts blasting refs to the media and it ends up with the fakers getting unfavorable calls as retribution.

Heh... a lot of NBA players are just genetically skinny and never seem able to gain any extra weight even when trying. Kobe is apparently more in the Mark Jackson/Charles Barkley side of the genetic ledger.

A story I remember from many years ago: Back in the Rick Adelman Rockets era, Yao Ming saw his former coach Jeff Van Gundy and former teammate Mark Jackson broadcasting a Rockets game. He walked over to them and said to Jackson "Mark, we weigh the same now." Mark Jackson was not amused, though JVG was.

Once players retire they should stop going with the bald look, having a round head with a round body is comical

Complains about my assessment, writes literally nothing to refute it....sounds about right. That's the difference between someone who actually thinks about what they are saying and someone who can't be bothered to think.
