http://espn.go.com/espn/grantland/story/_/id/6679686/your-deal Great interview. This guy is amazingly mature whether he's 18 or 23. He makes Shane Battier sound like Von Wafer. I mean, forget about drafting him to play. Bismack should replace David Stern immediately and we'd settle the new CBA in no time. Nelson Mandela can learn a thing or two about being a man from Bismack.
Holy crap -- just read the article. What a great interview. Our Venezuelan friend was not over-selling it. Actually, hearing all this buzz that Houston is trying to move up to 8-10 is getting me real exciting. I really have the feeling they are trying to target Le Pantera. The way the guy looks up to Kevin Love is really cool by the way. Him being a raw defensive minded shot blacking athlete from Africa, it is just natural for him to look up to Dream. Similar for Kevin Garnett, who is sort of the big man of his generation. But Kevin Love? That just shows the basketball IQ and maturity of the Bismack. I think this guy can have an immediate impact defensively, be on one of the all rookie teams, maybe play in the slam dunk contest, be in the top 10 in blocks...this year. And with McHale working with him on the post game, maybe a couple sessions with the Dream, the guy can become a great post player one day. Just think how raw Dream was on offense at 18.
Can this guy be the next Albert Pujols? Incredibly mature young guy who comes out of nowhere to become a Hall of Famer? Two more days to find out....
He can talk the talk for sure. But to be honest, Kwame Brown sounded way more intelligent than I thought he would when I first heard him talk as well. At the end of the day we still don't know much about Bismack. Or Enes, or Jonas. I fully trust our front office to do their homework though. Which means if we do end up picking the guy I will be ecstatic, and if we pass of him then no big deal. I'll say this though, as smart and mature as he sounded, he totally missed the point on that word association game. Or did he...
Sounds like an incredibly intelligent and honest guy. He just oozes class and basketball IQ. And at least he grew up speaking English.
I don't know about basketball IQ, but his IQ, as well as character and maturity, appears to be extremely high. If he were on the Cavs a couple season ago, Lebron James would be tanking playoff games because he was upset to learn that Bismack did not bang Lebron's mom.
