Now this is what I live for in the offseason.

BimaThug throwing bread crumbs at the Clutchfans proletariat starved for some topic of discussion.

Thank you, BT! Whatever happens, I hope it happens quickly and doesn't drag out like the Melo-drama from last summer.

Good read. Unfortunately it wont put to bed the idiotic idea that we could waive Ryno, but all in all great analysis. For some reason when I was calculating Houston's available cap room if they let all their FAs go I got a number around $21 M. But hey, what's $2 M amongst friends?

Great article. So since we are hard capped until July 1st, we would have to send out at least $28 million in salaries for a LeBron or in trade? Not sure we can put together that much in salaries without including the very difficult to trade Anderson.

I don't think the Rockets will be able to reel in either LeBron or Paul George. So I think they will focus on trying to bring back as many of the core members of the current team as possible. I think they could make Capela a less than max offer before he becomes a free agent and hope he accepts. I think they will try to convince Luc and Ariza to return and play for a contender at a discount. And I think the Rockets will offer a boat load of draft picks for someone to take Anderson off our hands. But, I highly doubt all that happens.

"...there is a scenario in which the Rockets could trade Anderson, Nene and non-rotation players (possibly including a signed-and-traded Tarik Black) for LeBron, without having to give up any of Houston’s key rotation pieces.."

From what I’m seeing, it’s mathematically possible to do this. Just not probable.

    1. Trade Gordon for PG since he could just walk, if your OKC, getting Gordon for someone who could just leave is actually an amazing option. Would require PG forcing it.

    2. Anderson + NeNe + Zhou + NG contract and two first round picks (2019-2022, take your pick cavs) before July 1st for lebron. Again would require lebron to force it and the Cavs would gain two first rounders. They also pick up an intriguing prospect in Zhou, and can flip Ryan Anderson in a year and half for potentially another first round pick when his 21mil contract is expiring.

You can then resign Ariza to MLE.
    Green to Vet min.
    Tarik to vet min.

    Team looks like:
    Harden - 30m
    Paul - 35m
    Jame - 35m
    George - 20m
    Tucker - 7m
    Ariza - 5
    Chinao - 1.5m
    Green - vet min
    Black - vet min

Your gonna have to let Capela go, unless for some odd reason he took a massive pay cut. This will allow you to save tons of money vs tax bill and keep the team together. I love Capela, but a rim protector and lob catcher doesn’t need a 20m contract.

You can keep RJ hunter and still have the 46th pick to add depth as well.

Crazy approach: Sign Ariza to a max contract with only 1st year guaranteed, then package him with Nene, Onuaku and Zhou and we get LeBron and JR. Technically it can be done right? @BimaThug

Is it possible to include Capela in a S/T plus Gordon and 2 future firsts plus cash for Lebron? I hope Bima can give an answer here.

It's also unfortunate that the Rockets don't have the assets to gamble and move high into the draft.
