About time-- King has proven himself dumb-as-rocks and was useful only as a stooge to Larry Brown. Stefanski, IIRC, was the guy who "discovered" Nenad Krstic.

After a slow start to the season, it appears the Sixers organization is ready to shake things up.

Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King will be fired on Tuesday and most likely replaced by New Jersey Nets General Manager Ed Stefanski, a former high school basketball player at Monsignor Bonner in Drexel Hill, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing two NBA sources.

Stefanski played three seasons at Penn, where he graduated in 1976 from the Wharton Business School, according to The Inquirer.

Nice scoop ... thanks for posting.

No doubt the Sixers will be dealing in a few weeks... which means Andre Miller is most likely gone. No need to save face on the Iverson deal when you weren't involved in it -- they can just pawn that failure on Knight. Who knows... maybe they deal Iguodala too. He hasn't been all that. In my opinion, Iguodala is best suited as a second or third guy.

Only real thing to say is...WTF took them so long to figure this out???? How many awful contracts did he dole out?

I get the Billys mixed up all the time too. Both Billy K, both in the East, both incompetent.

Before you get too excited, bear in mind that he makes Rafer look like a sniper from the outside. Career 20%, and has been pretty consistent in that regard. Never sniffed 30%.

I def. agree with emjohn, Andre Miller is pretty much Eric Snow 2.0. That said he can help a few teams-- though the Rockets should probably maximize the talent they have before looking into new players.

The Sixers have some good prospects waiting in the wings, but Iguodala has been brutal in the games I've seen him in this year... either a), it's a shooting slump b) he's playing listlessly because he hasn't received an extension or -- most likely IMO, and most troublingly for the Sixers -- c) he's just not that good.

But he has the midrange game and passing skills needed on this team...he would be an upgrade in every sense of the word.

DOH! My bad... I don't think I would have ever noticed for some reason.

So does Tony Parker. The need for a 3pt shooting specialist at point is overblown on this board. As DaDa said, he would be an improvement in every other sense (Damn, I sound like Clyde).

It's about time. The only thing King ever did right since 2000 was drafting Iguodala and even he's not all that.

To quote my buddy who's a Hawks fan after last night's Atlanta/Philly game, "I can't believe it. There actually is a team out there worse than us."

    Good job Billy.

He deserves to be fired. Iverson must be gloating right now.

Eric Snow was a pretty tenacious defender in his prime... Andre Miller not so much. Plus Eric Snow never commanded $10 million a year. That being said, he is an expiring contract next year... so he could be of interest to a number of teams.

Andre Miller can dribble penetrate and create shots for others. Rafer does not have the ability to do this. Francis can do this if he puts his mind to it. Mike James has the ability... but not the vision.

I don't know why Les thought so highly of CD, he didn't do anything special other than be Rudy's golf buddy and take a lightning bolt for him! :D
