This has always been my thought.

We have the All-Star game for the popularity contest.

It honestly makes no sense whatsoever that media get a vote in the MVP.

This has been suggested before, but the same thing has failed in other sports. Coaches for example vote on things like Gold Gloves in baseball and they do a TERRIBLE job. There is no way to get it perfect.

I just ran the numbers removing ESPN votes. WB just had way too many 1st Place votes to make much of a dent. Even if you give Harden all of Leonard and LeBron's 1st place votes (an extra 60pts), he still comes up short.

Who was it that mocked the players MVP vote? It was Beatle I believe on her show with Max kellerman.

I know Michael Wilbon went on a tirade saying that the players didn't deserve to choose their own MVP.

I agree with you in theory but coaches have an agenda. They vote for their guy or risk their guy thinking that the coach doesnt believe in them.

Imagine the pelicans coach. Hed obviously have to vote for anthony davis even though he wasnt in the mvp race last year

    Good work @heypartner.

The tough thing with the ESPN platform is that they are loud. And they "influence." There are a lot of "bobblehead" voters. They are easily swayed at what is being shouted at them. When ESPN runs their narrative, it makes a difference. Especially with LOCAL beat writers that don't always get to view the league holistically throughout the season. They concentrate on their team and then listen to the ESPNers to get the holistic view. And that view is tainted by narrative.

It is all about the "influencers."
