Per multiple reports on twitter. This is one of those "never a good thing" reports. Hopefully in this case it will be though because the offense has shown zero creativity to date, and I don't just mean this year. When OBrien was hired I had dreams of New England's offense dancing in my head with creative creative screens and quick tempo. Obrien himself even referred to his offensive pace as NASCAR. Instead we have seen a very vanilla offense with an occasional wrinkle. Even now when we added a speed back we've turned him into a power runner. Just weird.
Agreed! Something needs to change. I, too, have been waiting to see that innovative NE offense since....well, since BOB arrived. I'm still waiting. Maybe now we'll see it! But it begs the question......if the offensive coordinator isn't calling plays....what is he doing?..........
there's nothing really different to expect.. BOBs philosophy is still to establish the run. that was evident in the playcalling. i don't think he'll do anything drastically different. i think the loss against the pats was on brock, special teams, weak oline, and coaching, in terms of mental preparation... BOB is all talk
Was BoB innovative his first year when calling plays? Hoping things improve, but until they improve the OL it will be a challenge. And... what is Godsey still doing here... holding clipboards and going to lunch with Brock?
Have no confidence that BOB calling plays will make much of a difference. The offense since BOB and his regime has been here has been a failure so him calling plays is suppose to make things better? Yeah right.
I don't like this because it takes him away from management the entire game. How many "playcallers" have won a SB? Did Kubes call plays last year?
If the OC doesn't call plays, at the very least he's probably doing walk-throughs and game-planning with the offense through the week. McCarthy was the HC and called plays, Packers won in 2010.
if it means seeing more play action or a screen pass here and there and maybe one play with brock under center, then I'm all for it. how can godsey still be an O.C when he doesn't call the plays.
To answer your question, I'm pretty sure Kubes called plays last year. And I wanna say Sean Payton did when the Saints won also
I didn't think he did but I wasn't sure. On the other teams, we don't have Rodgers or Brees though...
THIS. That touchdown against the chiefs(?) by fuller was a thing of beauty. Can't wait to get Miller back, the possibilities of a trick play etc.
Yeah. 2 shutouts in 4 games. No method, just madness. Hasn't developed anything over the middle, no TE no slot receiver. Trying to make miller a power back. Doesn't know how to consistently set up fuller. Even Hopkins looks inconsistent. Line not blocking well. Brock showing flashes but weaknesses too. I mean really, it's designing football plays not rockets
