I think it’s definitely the customers who are perpetual liars. Salespeople mostly get a bad rap when it comes to honesty. I work in sales and I can say I’ve never lied to a customer, it would be hard to do that and it not come back on me.

Yet I watch customers do the opposite. Not uncommon for a customer to lie right to your face.

    Thoughts? Do you disagree?

The general concept is "the customer is always right" and most customers know this. So a lot of times customers just say whatever they want to get whatever it is they want.

But yes, my company deals with a lot of customers and a lot of them are full of ****!

Outdated concept. The customer is actually usually wrong.

Yes, I agree. I've told many salespeople I would return back and I never did.

Yeah i gotta say again, terrible. That is incredibly rude. Not only did you waste his time while you were there now you’ve wasted his time after you’re gone. Don’t be that way.

    What?

It's the salesperson job to complete the sale before they leave the store.

Sounds like they are just bad at closing the sale.

How about a scenario- you are selling x, have been selling that product for Y years and the people lie to you about z.

I'm honest with salesmen. I know what I want and I know what I need. I bought a new car back in January and it was basically a pleasant experience. To be fair, I did my research and all that before hand so I knew what I wanted and what was fair.

I think the big problem with consumers is they have the mentality of "oh well I'm the customer and they're gonna bend over backwards for me" ... when they haven't done any research and just go into everything very ignorantly.

I am pretty sure it's sex, lies, and videotape. You can't have one without the other.

No need for all that. Do you think salespeople lie to customers more or the other way around?

I agree, I'm a terrible person. But also please don't assume the salespersons gender next time.

Oh get over it. Has nothing to do with the discussion. Of course you’re an ******* to salespeople. I did say “salesperson” in the title.
