Please direct me to the best. I am looking for something better than the paultry offerings at "Golden Corral" or that nasty hood place called "Black Eyed Pea". I am jonsing for some good ass southern heart attack on a biscuit.

    Thanks!

Hickory Hollow is strictly just a BBQ restaurant, it's not soul food.

I don't think the OP was looking for a BBQ place.

He's looking for southern comfort food.

From Hickory Hollow's website: "Hickory Hollow has been serving exceptional Texas comfort food with Texas ... The Houston Press says it's the Best Chicken Fried Steak in Houston"

If it's chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes with homemade gravy you're after, you can't go wrong at Pappy's cafe on I-10.

Also, Mama's Cafe is good. Today's special is pot roast unless things have changed, and it's mighty good.

Oh yeah forgot they have a chicken fried steak. That's because the couple times I tried their CFS, it wasn't very good. Their BBQ isn't that good either.

And there was a nice write-up in the Press today about their fried mushrooms. I may have to try this place out.

Check out Jax Grill, Mason Jar, and Live Oak Grill. All 3 have great southern food.

I'd pay good money to see bigtexxx eat at breakfast klub.

The thought makes me rofl my waffle (n' chicken!).
