I started watching in 74, so I don't know how it felt when we got Rudy T, Murphy, Hayes. During my time, I felt these are the best acquisitions the Rockets had:

    1) TMac
    2) Hakeem
    3) Yao
    4) Francis
    5) Malone (could be higher except it was a long time ago)
    6) Sampson
    7) Drexler (we already had Hakeem so it was not as big)
    8) Barkley
    9) OT
Tie for 10th) Rick Barry, Sleepy Floyd, Pippen, EG, Hayes (the 2nd time)

I don't recall being overly excited about Lucas, Mc Cray, Reid ...
    What do u think?

That's awfully high for TMac. We need to wait and see whether he'll be another Drexler or another Pippen.

T-Mac is HUGE, but Hakeem made the Rockets, period.

    1. Hakeem- He's the Dream
    2. Yao- Verdict's still out, but is the face of the Rockets now
    3. T-Mac- We'll see, but I'm making a prediction
    4. Malone- Old school, but was still great.
    5. Francis- Most exciting player in Rockets history.
    6. Drexler- Won 2nd champ. with him, great trade.
    7. Sir Charles- We might have given up a lot, but it's Barkley.
    8. Sampson- Injury bug ruined his career, was good though.
    9. Hayes- See Malone.
    10. Maloney :D

You can't compare Pippen and Drexler with TMac. He is a 2 time scoring champ. He handles the ball better than Clyde and has better range. He is a lot like Pippen, except better in every way. TMac is top 5 player in the league. I don't think the other 2 were ever ranked as high.

Do you mean like the '91-'92season that Drexler finished #2 in the MVP voting behind Jordan?

    Isn't Drexler top 50 all-time?

LOL, these young kids. And to have Yao ahead of Moses is insane. Wasn't Moses a two time MVP.

    The list should be

    1. Dream
    2. Moses
    3. Drexler/Yao
    5. Tmac

Edit: Make that three time NBA MVP and the first successful high schooler.

    Try:

    1. Hakeem
    2. Rudy T (include coaching)
    3. Moses
    4. Yao/Tmac
    5. Glyde
    6. Big E
    7. Calvin (include fashion and broadcasting)
    8. Francis
    9. Barkley/Sampson

    That's the top 11

You guys are comparing what these guys 've accomplished during their career, that is not what my thread was about.

It's about the best, biggest "acquisitions".

    1) Were you around when we got Moses?
I remember the buzz, the excitement ... but it wasn't as big as the time we got Yao. That is why I listed Yao higher. I also said Moses was a distant memory, out of sight, out of mind ...

    2) When we got Hakeem, he just came out of college, expectation was high but he was a rookie nevertherless.
TMac is already a big time NBA player. That justifies him being on top of the list.

well then your thread title is misleading. by best acquistition one would think you actually meant best acquistition. but you meant acquistition with the most buzz? well then that's fair enough....
