Thank you for reminding me about Fandango. I used to watch it almost once a year, but somehow over time I'd kind of forgotten about it. That movie is fantastic. Some other kind of classic obscure movies would be almost anything in the Hal Hartley collection. I would say particularly Trust and Unbelievable Truth.
I pledged a frat my 2nd semester at UT, spring '94. We were required to watch that movie and then, as a pledge class, recreate that road trip. That was the best thing about my 3 semesters in a frat at UT.
Oh it was the ludicrous bullsh!t you'd expect, but it was also pretty great at times (we had full-court hoops in the backyard, I wrecked shop as a kid), until I got tired of it. I can add that to my list of life experiences. For 3 semesters.
Agreed there were big names. That said it was before Leo blew up and the movie only grossed 2.4 million in the states.
Yeah, I remember really liking that, haven't seen it in ages, I wonder if it holds up? Summer School is a very underrated comedy. Courtney Thorne Smith in a wetsuit for the win.
A movie that I never hear discussed but that I really liked is American Ultra. It's on Hulu and Amazon Prime right now.
