I might be coming to Houston somewhat more frequently in the future. What is the absolute best hotel in Houston? Thanks.
That's always a tough question to answer since a lot of what a hotel has to offer is based on location and proximity to things. Also do you prefer modern, artistic, trendy or classical type hotel?
I like the Park Hyatt style (not that there is one in Houston). I like a pool. I've stayed at the St. Regis, wasn't too impressed. Granduca is funny, with its fake old Italian style.
I'd try the new Marriott downtown. The one with the Texas shaped pool. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-photos/houmq-marriott-marquis-houston/
I guess if you like boutique hotels. It isn't walking distance to anything. I'd still do the new Mariott Marquise or the JW Marriott on Main. The one on main is walking distance to all the bars and the rail.
Consider some of the top restaurants in Houston are in hotels. That's a nice perk, imo. Means those hotels are well-monitored by the local womenz. Also, although the rooms may be stuffy (no clue), The Houstonian Hotel surely has the best amenities in the city, since the elite Houstonian Condos, Fitness Club and Spa is there...plus Tennis Courts. Indoor and Outdoor. And they have great pools for a Houston hotel, certainly. It a secluded property near River Oaks/Galleria area. Pretty relaxing for a hotel near the action. And you'd meet a lot of Houstonians who belong to the Club/Spa to rub elbows with...fwiw. Could be fun for return visits.
Anyone ever stay at La Colombe d’Or? Excellent location, but I’ve never stayed there. ATW- if I were you, I’d go with Four Seasons. You and I both know that no Marriott (JW, Marquis, etc.) can compare to a FS property.
I don't think there's anything like a Park Hyatt in Houston. The Hyatt team could probably set you up with a high level suite and service at the Regency. The Four Seasons offers high service. Hotel Alesandra is getting good marks. Location will drive your choices. Th JW Marriot downtown has good marks. The new Westin Memorial City is a nice building and operation. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g56003-zff12-Houston_Texas-Hotels.html https://travel.usnews.com/Hotels/Houston_TX/
You just missed the Super Bowl, but back when I was in high school in the early 90's the La Quinta at Chimney Rock and I-10 was our SB party headquarters. Guy had his older brother's ID and rented 2 connecting rooms, so...bathtub of beer, bongs, stupid high school girls, Fuzzy's pizza, it was good times. That La Quinta gets 5 stars. Hope this helps.
1. Four Seasons 2. Marriot Marquis 3. The Houstonian 4. Hotel ZaZa Don’t waste your time with anything else.
