Benetton brings in John Lucas III

Benetton Tamoil Treviso announced the signing of playmaker John Lucas III on Saturday. Meanwhile Benetton announced that Rodrigo De La Fuente will not continue with the club. Lucas (180, 25) arrives for his second stint in Italy after spending parts of the last two seasons in the NBA with the Houston Rockets. Lucas, the son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas Jr., made a name for himself with a fine college basketball career at Oklahoma State, which he helped reach the NCAA final four in 2004. He first joined the Rockets during the 2005-06 season for 13 games, but finished that season with Snaidero Udine in Italy, where he averaged 10.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in five games. Last season he returned to Houston for 47 regular-season and two playoff games, averaging 3.3 points per game. De La Fuente, a long-time Barcelona regular, joined Benetton early this season and averaged 4.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in seven ULEB Cup games. He leaves due to mutual consent as the player was looking for an opportunity to play more minutes.
