I realize it is human nature to take things gradually and incrementally. We have Lebron and Harden and Curry and Durant, all still vibrant. But if you watch their games you will see Ben Simmons is already a top-5 player in the league, already Beyond Magic in terms of getting to the rim. He is a generational talent, and then some.

Come on Ben, don't get ahead of yourself yet.

Why are you joining another team's fan site to say that?

Let's see how you handle the Playoffs first, when teams will game plan to specifically force you to shoot jumpers the entire series.

Barring horrific injury or untimely death, I am also confident that he will go down as one of the greats. We shall see.

He does things you can’t teach and sees the floor in a different way. On top of that he’s a very good defender already, he’s only going to get better.

I just like Philadelphia in general. They’re going to be a really fun team to watch over the next decade. I think they’ve become a huge threat to lure LeBron in the summer. Earlier in the year I kind of laughed it off but they’ve gotten really good really quick.

    Agreed.

Ben is already stronger and more skilled at his age than his predecessor. His raw talent is most impressive. Although, his pickup game needs a lot of work. Nonetheless, Ben is truly destined for greatness.

He's probably on his way but Ben Simmons is most definitely NOT a top 5 player.

I'm rooting for guys like him, Embiid and Giannis to take their profiles to another level and shine in the playoffs.

There's definitely a ceiling if you can't shoot threes though...

LeBron's shot earlier in his career was suspect too. I only bring that up is because if Simmons puts in the work this summer he is going to decimate the league soon.

Bron shot 63 of 217 threes in his first season, Simmons shot 0 of 11. That suggests he just doesn't have the shot in his arsenal.

Yea the dude avoided the 3 like Tristan Thompson avoiding commitment. But he has to be smart enough to realize that he's going to have to be somewhat competent from the perimeter to get to that GOAT level.

    Simmons FTM 2.4 FTA 4.2 = 56%

    DeAndre Jordan FTM 2.4 FTA 4.1 = 58%

He’d better improve his FT’s dramatically cause he’s gonna get to the line a whole more in the near future seasons.

LOL better than Magic around the rim?

    LOL what an idiot.

Once he drops 42-15 starting at C to win a championship as a ROOKIE, then we can say he is better than Magic around the rim.

Unreal. Magic could have averaged 30 EASILY all around the rim as a PF/C. 100 percent. Ben doesn't compare in his wildest dreams.

Ben Simmons is the reason why the Process worked and why every philly fan should be thanking Sam Hinkie. He turned that franchise around in just 4 years.

His lack of shooting will put a ceiling on his offensive impact, as others have noted. I'm interested to see how he's defended in the playoffs.

Shooting is one the skills people cab work on though. Lebron, Jason Kidd, Kawhi, Parker, Lowry etc. It just depends on how dedicated he is on developing his shot.
