For years, San Antonio has obviously been the top dog in the Great State of Texas. Their fans have reason to gloat, as they have hoisted more O'Brien trophies than we have, although they have not accomplished the Back 2 Back feat. Their fans, to me, are starting to become as obnoxious as Cowboy's fans. This team we have, although we lost the season series, has a legitimate chance to beat them if we meet in the 2nd round. Simple poll and simple question. Assuming the stars align,we beat OKC, and obvious we ALL want a title, but would just beating the Spurs outright this year be enough to stomach getting beaten by Golden State in the WCF?
No. Because if (knock on wood) we beat OKC, and then (knocks on more wood) we beat the Spurs, we'd more than likely have to contend with GSW again, in the WCF. And if we don't take them down there, we'll be 0-2, regarding our recent history, in playoff series against them. And that's hard to stomach.
Uh oh, looks like another jinx thread. "Rockets don't play any real contenders" "This next 5 game stretch will determine our season" "Beating San Antonio"
Besides the obvious jinx thread nature of this, I'm never satisfied when they end the season with an L (or not in the playoffs) Also, I don't find Spurs fans anywhere close to as obnoxious as Cowboys fans.
What's the point of even posting this right now?? This same exact thread could have been created AFTER this series is over...... I just don't get it.
Jinx, anti-jinx rule invoked. This is now an anti-jinx thread about how hard it used to be to get out of the first round when we had TMac.
I want to win the title and anything less than that is a failure and every Rockets fan should feel this way.............don't settle for less
We win one game and now you're talking about the Spurs in the 2nd rd??? As others have pointed out let's wait and see how things play out against OKC first.
Don't get ahead of yourself. Still 3 more wins to get. Golden State lost a 3-1 lead before so a 1-0 lead means nothing But to look ahead to our future aspirations: Houston and San Antonio have played in 3 playoff series in NBA history. Crazy to think that. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockets–Spurs_rivalry
Hypothetically, this would make the THIRD straight year that the Warriors eliminated the Rockets from the playoffs. Obviously, this year the Rockets are completely unbeatable forever and always, so it's not a big concern, but damn.
