In a world where that wasn't where he started doing bbq reviews. He joined Texas Monthly long after he had been running the Full Custom Gospel BBQ blog while working as an architect almost a decade ago.

    Here's his defunct blog : http://fcg-bbq.blogspot.com/
Here's a map of some of the stops he and his friends have been to : https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...ll=15.351301413380932,-103.46863719999988&z=3
You can even use his book as a primer for your journeys!

Are you slow? I've done freelance for free. I still do. However I've slowed that because, you know, I've started my own company.

Quite frankly, knowing how long I've talked about food just on this site alone your comment is insulting & idiotic...

I’ve read your reviews and accompanying threads. They’ve provided great comedy! I hope you keep them up. My apologies.

When I write for an article, I'm always serious. Here? Yeah, I definitely write off the cuff with not much editing.

You've lost my respect on here. I'm sure that means little to you, but If you knew me in person, you'd know it was a shame.

I don't want to pile on here, and I haven't read all of what has been written in this thread, but Full Custom Gospel BBQ is a blast from the past. Weird name, but great content. No wonder Texas Monthly picked the guy up.

I didn't even know that it was the same guy until DoD brought it up in this thread. He's good.

Another contender in Austin: InterStellar BBQ

From the Noble Sandwich guys (my favorite sammich shop in ATX), they closed the 620 location and reopened it as a bbq joint. Glowing review in the Statesman, 9/10. Loved the brisket, smoked pastrami brisket special, pulled pork, ribs, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and the smoked scalloped potatoes.

One of you locals needs to go there and file a report.

I always thought and still feel that The Hungry Farmer has some of the best BBQ in Houston. They are old "not hip" but their BBQ is great.

The Flying Saucer has a solid charcuterie plate called "The Hungry Farmer".

    Never heard of it.

I love that Houston has so many legit places now. Gonna go grab some Roegel's brisket in a few...

**** yeah they do. I forgot all about them and didnt even know the name as a child until now when I looked it up. My dad would always take us to the one on Crosstimbers when we had a business in that area. Damn.... Thats nostalgic. Thank you for the reminder of this great place.
