I don't want to pile on here, and I haven't read all of what has been written in this thread, but Full Custom Gospel BBQ is a blast from the past. Weird name, but great content. No wonder Texas Monthly picked the guy up.
Another contender in Austin: InterStellar BBQ From the Noble Sandwich guys (my favorite sammich shop in ATX), they closed the 620 location and reopened it as a bbq joint. Glowing review in the Statesman, 9/10. Loved the brisket, smoked pastrami brisket special, pulled pork, ribs, jalapeno cheddar sausage, and the smoked scalloped potatoes. I always thought and still feel that The Hungry Farmer has some of the best BBQ in Houston. They are old "not hip" but their BBQ is great.
Never heard of it. I love that Houston has so many legit places now. Gonna go grab some Roegel's brisket in a few...
**** yeah they do. I forgot all about them and didnt even know the name as a child until now when I looked it up. My dad would always take us to the one on Crosstimbers when we had a business in that area. Damn.... Thats nostalgic. Thank you for the reminder of this great place.
