Not sure of where or how it originated.

I think he can do better than "El Chapo".

The druglord Joaquin Guzman is known as El Chapo because he's short, which I don't believe accurately describes Harden. Maybe it's the song "El Chapo" by The Game. Here's a link to the lyrics which seems to be about Guzman - https://genius.com/The-game-el-chapo-lyrics

El Chapo because of Harden's elusiveness, savvyness!

But seriously, it's because of Harden's superior handle. It isn't the man, it's the way the man's name sounds. CHOP! CHOP!

Iv noticed that behind his locker all year.

I'm guessing it's because he's the boss and head of the team.

Like the real el chapo is to his team or I mean drug cartel lol.

Not that I think drug dealers or cartels are cool at all but I do like this nick name a lot better than chef.

    El Chapo

I can get behind this one.

    It's pretty gangster lol

I know I'm going to get killed for this (no pun intended), but I think it says a lot about a guy if he embraces being named after a mass-murderer, gangster figure. It's like "look at me, I'm a badass" maybe a bit of confirmation bias on my part, but no need to wonder anymore about Harden's villainous media perception. He wants it. He thrives on it.

El Chapo? Not bad. How about one of those ironic nicknames though? Slim Jim Harden? Feel free to call me a dork. All my friends do.

That's why it's ironic (contradictory is more accurate but people call them ironic nicknames).
