I got into a debate with a friend over this issue, he says being a homer is worse. He chose his favorite teams (Golden State Warriors, Arizona Cardinals) to avoid being either one.
Well they both have there own levels of annoying. At least homers are real fans and they somewhat know what there talking about. Just cant stand bandwagons at all. All tough homers are way harder to argue with as they are biased and don't care about the other side of things..."all i know is my team is winnin it all" is annoying!
Bandwagoners are much worse. Homers can be annoying, but at least they love their team and are more than likely knowledgeable about that team. Bandwagoners are just looking for a reason to gloat and probably couldn't tell you a thing about the history or past versions of the team they are rooting for.
Bandwagoners are fake fans. I hate bandwagoners. A few years back, the Rockets got all kinds of bandwagoners during the 22-win streak and the '09 playoffs. Most didn't even watch the games.
I think we all hate bandwagoners, they just want attention. Homers may be obnoxious, but they usually stay the course with their squad good times and bad.
In the general scheme of things, who cares? I could care less if someone is a homer or bandwagoner. Neither of those things affects my life.
You gotta be a homer to be a fan. If you're objective then you're not a fan. Bandwagoners are indeed annoying.
Bandwagoners will never understand the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. They just jump from team to team and become fanboys for whatever is hot. You can see a lot of them over in the Finals thread. Homers are what make fanbases strong. Give me 100,000 homers over 500,000 bandwagoners because once the team starts losing, those homers will still be there but the bandwagoners will have jumped off looking to hitch a ride on the next bandwagon.
I can't go this far. I'm the biggest Astros fan I know...having said that, I didn't check my brain at the door to say they were serious contenders this season. But I do agree that bandwagoners are far more annoying than homers.
And yet you posted in this thread. Anyway, homers can be a pain, but there's something to be said for loyalty. Bandwagoning is taking the easy way out.
Boy: Hey Billy! Hey Joey! Come on in. There's plenty of room. Sorry, not you, Homer. Homer: Why not!? [boy points to sign, "No Homers Club"] Homer: But you let in Homer Glumplich! Homer Glumplich: [pops head out window] Hyuck hyuck! Boy: It says no Homers. We're allowed to have one. Homer: Oh.
