Express starting pitcher Chris Sampson received the news that all minor leaguers dream of hearing at one point in their careers: You are going to the bigs.

Moore broke the news to Sampson, who is 7-1 with a 2.64 earned-run average, in the clubhouse minutes after the conclusion of Thursday's game.

The right-hander will join the Houston Astros today.

Sports Radio 610 said Gallo was sent down to make room for him. First smart movie by Purpura since he has been GM. Sampson is a very interesting story. Here is article on his story.

He only has 5 BB in 61 innings. Damn that is very good. He only has 5 HR allowed so he is likely a sinkerball pitcher.

They could have brought up the Round Rock mascot for all I care... as long as it meant no more Mike Gallo.

Sampson is definitely got some potential to be a solid pro... between him and Borkowski, the 'Stros have made some good AAA pickups within this last year.

Sampson wasn't on the 40 man roster, so we couldn't have just called him up and sent Gallo down, some one was released.

Not that he hasn't earned a trip back to the minors, but then you read this statement and its sad how quickly things can change.

At home, however, they're the exact opposite: 18-9. The fact that the Astros are now home for 10 games should come as good news to Houston fans. And to Mike Gallo, who was tagged with two extra-inning losses during the road swing.

"We're going home for a bunch of games," Gallo said. "That's the great thing about this game. You play so many games and you're going to have stretches like this. You learn to bounce back from it."

Gallo is a good guy, but man did he need to go. I don't think I could take watching him in a late game situation one more time.
