https://www.theringer.com/sports/20...w-ohio-state-houston-astros-domestic-violence Damn, comparing Luhnow to Urban Meyer.
Seriously. I'm as critical of the move as the next guy, but comparing an active cover-up to taking advantage of a low trade value (as gross as the circumstances may be) is a ridiculous false equivalence.
That article almost reads like @Hey Now! wrote it LOL. And I'm not surprised, the Astros willingly thrust themselves into the controversy. They had to be expecting the backlash. I don't know why some on here are surprised. I do agree that redemption and 2nd chance will be easier to give after an admission of wrong doing and apology, proof of 100% innocence, or show of remorse. It might not change the facts of the case but it'll make it easier for the public to welcome him back to baseball.
What did they say when the Yankees signed Chapman or the Cubs traded for him. If the reaction wasn't the same then this guy is a hypocrite. The national media doesn't like Luhnow or what he's built.
https://www.theringer.com/2016/7/25...-york-yankees-chicago-cubs-trade-f2239121fe72 He is consistent.
It does! Like, eerily so.... I will point out, he links to a tweet from Brian McTaggart - and uses it as a means to rake(-ish) Osuna - in which Tags egregiously misquotes/translates Osuna. It has been corrected many times - though, I do not believe, by McTaggart. I do think there was *a way* for Luhnow to sell this more effectively to the public; he continues to fumble that in a fairly embarrassing way.
Nah ima post hundreds of more times - I am morally outraged and hold the Astros organization in contempt. They support DV with their actions. All of you will know how morally superior I am than you. If any of ya'll think I'l stop watching and supporting the Astros you're crazy. I hold the Astros in contempt. I am morally outraged. What time is the game tonight? Can't wait to watch, going to be another great run to the post season - I will not miss a game! The Astros organization supports DV. I'm morally outraged!!! I'm recording the game tonight can't wait to watch when I get home! Go Astros! Wait - F the Astros! I'll never support them i'm morally outraged!!! (what time is the game starting tonight...)
All one has to do is look back at the steroid era, and how how those who admitted it were treated differently than those who denied. People tend to be extremely forgiving in sports, but the person who did something bad has to show contrition/remorse/etc.
Maybe Luhnow’s wordplay isn’t out-and-out lying, but it is elision or sophistry or obfuscation. What a fancy journalist!
Yep. The Astros just put their reputation on the line believing that Osuna will show remorse and all will be forgiven. Their hands might be tied with the case dragging and they might have to live with their "problem" for some time.
I'm sorry, isn't this a baseball forum? Or are we going to keep complaining about something that we have no control over? We can control whether we talk about baseball or not. Consistently b****ing about how your GM handles public releases is boring.
