Encarnacion. Then Gurriel is getting packaged and traded for Sale or Archer. Catch up to speed. It's happening.
Now Luhnow needs to address the rotation. I like bringing in some seasoned vets (Beltran, Reddick and BM).
I agree, though I'm okay with Gurriel taking the helm at 1st base. But I'm Hesitant on using Reed or Moran; I guess if Reed and Moran are still showing the coaches something, maybe. If either turn into another JD Martinez for another club, everyone would be wanting to can Luhnow.
Can't be upset with the dollar amount when we essentially paid Rasmus the same amount last year for nothing
You never know when father time is finally gonna claim his victory, but Beltran has been awesome even at his advanced age. The lineup is absolutely loaded right now. Moran isn't in the teams plans at this point, Reed still is
Gurriel is unlikely to be traded and don't see why Rays or CWS would want a guy with so few years on his deal. If the Astros acquire EE, the Astros would be able to trade a lot of AA/AAA position players. When I think of teams that like AA/AAA prospects more than most, I think Rays and A's.
Beltran and Encarnacion were being leveraged against each other by the Astros. They're not signing both.
who knows. short-term immediate help with upside at the major league level doesn't seem like a worthless asset.
lol, and the result was signing one on a one-year deal for $16MM? the astros must not be very good at playing that game. they may very well not sign EE, but leveraging them against eachother to end up with beltran for 1 year at the max anybody would have paid him won't be the reason. 2 completely different contracts.
