They seem to have these stretches where they can't hit anything and then they run into some terrible team and explode. I'm sure we'll be seeing the same thing again this year.

I'm not going to trying to divine into why they are the way they are, but I'm not willing to call this just a slow start. To me, it looks like a direct continuation of a lot of bad trends from last year.

It's time to really analyze what made the championship team the most dominant hitting team in the league or conversely what caused the championship team, mostly still intact, to fall so hard in hitting the next year. If Beltran's presence had that much of an influence as some have posited, then we need to get ourselves another of those fast.

I get that the offense wasn’t quite as good in 2018 as they were in 2017. We went from 5.5 runs per game to 4.9. Averaging 4.9 runs per game is still a really good offense. So let’s not act like the Astros all of a sudden have an offense that is so significantly worse than 2017. And let’s not forget that the 2017 Astros offense started out just as slow as this year’s team.

Actually, to this point, it is to the tune of 2.14 runs/game. Notice, I said IS, not WILL BE.

I think its mental. We went from a under paid, under appreciated team hungry to prove something with nothing to lose to one that has done it all (once), expected to it again, a lot less to prove, and yes, better paid. That is a heck of a mind job to live up to. Not say we cant. Not saying the talent isnt there. But utilizing that talent to high degree over a full season is HARD.

No. I start threads during the Playoffs. With Houston teams, the problems usually start there...........

But now...they start at 4.32% (that would be 7 of 162, btw) of the way through the season. Gotcha.

    Where's your ******* Tombstone?

And yet the team this year is far and away better than that team...

You may follow the Astros, but you clearly don't enjoy them or even like them, so it's hard to claim to be a fan.
