Greinke is a freaking magician. Every pitcher should try to emulate what he does. He gets away with throwing little league speed pitches.
If every pitcher could do that, there'd be a lot more good pitchers in MLB. He is a ****ing wizard, no doubt. I'm loving watching him pitch.
Not pictured on cover despite tweet: Zack Greinke. Although, he'd probably not want to be. I mean, it's quite a thing: You have three CYA or should-be CYA winners as your top three starters, and nobody knows as your 4th starter.
I hope McHugh spends a lot of time with Zack if McHugh is back. Collin fashions himself as a multitool pitcher, but I don't think he's good enough at all of them to really use variety to max effect. Greinke, however, is exactly that at the highest degree. I mean, if you're a younger Astros pitcher, take your pick of legends to learn from. What an amazing resource.
Of note, the other pitchers Houston was engaged on: Robbie Ray Marcus Stroman Zach Wheeler Noah Syndergaard Trevor Bauer Mike Minor Madison Bumgarner From that group, keep an eye on free agents Wheeler or Bumgarner this offseason, as Houston may be on the lookout for a replacement for Gerrit Cole. And the others (Ray, Bauer, Minor, Stroman, Thor) are likely to be a starting point for potential pitching targets at next year’s deadline, as none of their teams profile as playoff contenders for now.
We used to duck hunt big acquisitions like this, then we started to land them, but ideally, you want to keep them in flight on your plane, with your gas, and with a few luxury items like an on flight fire place, sofa, and big screen tv. That's when we bought the aircraft refueler, and everything has been just dandy.
Thor for Correa, straight up (assuming Cole walks)... who says no? (I think they are both under arb- thru the 2021 season, right?) I sure hope we stay the hell away from Stroman, do not want. I imagine none of those guys have any real interest for the Astros though as FA, b/c they will get market value and JL doesn't like to pay market value if he can avoid it at any costs. We'll see I guess.
