I don't think Dusty has anything against Diaz at all. I think it's as simple as him letting his SP choose the catcher, Maldy is very well liked, and the pitchers are nice people who don't want to change and hurt feelings. It's going much more slowly than I expected but the more passed balls and throwing errors he gets, the more the pitchers will finally be willing to stand up and ask for Diaz.

Explain BROWN, Hunter. There's no way he has advocated for Maldonado starting for him over Yainer. Dusty also forced change on Bielak, Brown, France, and Blanco by forcing Maldy on them then asserting he doesn't want rookie catchers working with young players. Plus, telling the media that the pitchers need to get used to pitching to someone other than the 20-something catcher if he gets hurt -- even though Maldy is older with a history of wear and tear injuries. As a side note, I clearly remember Hinch from spring training in 2018 or so saying there will be no 'personal catchers' when McCann was still around.
