Still it is inevitable that Asik will be mostly coming off the bench. As you can see, he is still hush-hush about it because he knows that it won't work.

No way this is a gimmick....especially in view of the way DMo/Jones have played thus far. Its highly necessary to find out if it works or not.

In my opinion, no matter what they do, Asik will always be pissed about the addition of Howard and will eventually look to be traded.

That's true. They're gonna do their best to make it work. Because if they make it work...it ups Asik's trade value immensely.

They only need it to work 12 minutes per game.

Some have said that Parson should go on Dirk, but I think that's counter productive to the whole experiment. It's a great plan during the season, but I think they need to see how effective either of them can be against a stretch 4. I am hella excited and hope to see how effective either Asik or Dwight are on Dirk. McHale has even said as much during one of the articles that was posted on here that is what he intends to do for this game.

McHale said the following which is also very interesting. "Both of them have defensive instincts to get back to the paint and cover the paint, both of them want to kind of stay back",McHale said. “They don’t want to show high (on screens.) They are both a little bit uncomfortable playing out on the floor and one of the two against the Dirk Nowitzkis of the world is going to have to come out there and be a presence against them. In the game of basketball, contrary to what everybody else might think, you do go back to your instincts."

I really hope this works, but that last paragraph is very telling. I can't wait for tomorrow's game!

So glad Asik is back! This will be extremely interesting to watch, if nothing else.

Not sure if this means they are actually considering starting both centers regularly or if this is just a way to see how it works for as many minutes as possible at this point because they didn't get to do it earlier in the preseason.

Anyway, this is the most exciting thing to watch for so far.

This is just stupid. It's disturbing that we still haven't found a trade for Asik. As good as he is, the team will be much better with a good PF.

Exactly. The Lin-Beverley thing has been interesting, but it seemed kind of premature and they're both playing well enough that it seems like a win regardless of who starts.

The Rockets have not gotten good play from their power forwards. Asik is so good defensively that you want him out there -- tons of potential wasted if you don't -- but he's like the exact opposite of what you would think is the ideal power forward for the team. Lots to learn tomorrow by seeing how they play together.

Whether this works or not depends much on match-ups. Against teams using big 4's, it has a lot better chance of working than when our opponent has stretch 4's in the game.

Why do we have to frame this as who starts are not? Or that it has to work every game for some number of minutes to work? Cant it just work when that is what the opponent gives you?

It may work out that we platoon our 4's. Or think of it as being able to play small or large.

Dallas is a tough place to christen this lineup given Dirk's outside game. ON the other hand, it they can keep his outside game in check, then it could be a early good sign.

It will be interesting to see.

They better hit threes because there won't be much room in the paint for driving.
