Can we send a caravan of cops to protect Morey and his fam? Donnie Walsh might do something crazy ;)

Joe Johnson is a fabulous player but this year's free agency market values are ridiculous.

I don't get JJ. At all. Why go back? That team is a lame duck team.

Unless they deal Smith, they'll be a team that can win in round 1, and after that, they'll be eaten ALIVE by a team that has bigs.

They are a good team. They won 53 games last year. They are relatiely young. Josh Smith-Horfoard-JJ are a pretty good tandem. Are they the best in the East? No, but things change. It's possible that they acquire a big man or that they just improve. It makes more sense than going to a gutted Knicks team.

As long as Smith is playing the 4, they'll be dead in round 2.

Last two years proved it. They can't beat Orlando or a Lebron-led cavs team...and if (likely) mia gets Bosh...they'll be back to a 4/5 seed...hoping not to get swept in round 2 by the 1 seed.

They can acquire a big man. This might not be their last move.

I'm not particularly a fan of Joe Johnson, but with all the people ****ting on his new contract, I clearly remember all of the people ****ting on his first contract with ATL.

"Joe Johnson is all about the money!" "Joe Johnson doesn't care about winning!" "ATL will regret this big time!!!"

Why can't you get paid and do well? I wouldn't bet on ATL winning a title, but JJ and the Hawks certainly proved the doubters wrong the first time.

IMO Joe Johnson is nowhwere near a max salary player. He is at best a B+/A- level talent who completely disappeared against Orlando and he'll be 35 when the deal ends, but it's Atlanta so whatever they want to do...

No one is saying he shouldn't get paid. He's a good player. But with this contract, he's getting overpaid. He is getting superstar money, and he just isn't worth that much. This will hurt the Hawks later on.

Yep. Those back to back sweeps in round 2 proved us all wrong.

For a rockets fan of these recent years, at the very most I envy their ability to get to round 2 back to back.

Joe Johnson ironically after all these big names is gonna end making more than Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. All the big names moving elsewhere and taking pay cuts.

No it wasnt....he later said he'd consider the knicks if it meant a chance to play , with lebron and Amar'e.....this link isn't clear as to whether this is the second and final commitment or if he's refering to the first and dismissing the Ny report.

And he had considered taking a paycut to play in NY, so it's not "impossible" to turn it down.
