    Makes sense actually

I feel the Suns knew they wouldn't be on the hook for the full 15 mil, they wouldn't hold him for the full year, and at that rate the benefits of having him for a quarter to a half of a season was well worth the signing with their future in mind

You sign Ariza to a 1 year deal expecting to trade him before the year is over, freeing his spot for one of their younger players

Ariza is known for creating a great lockeroom culture, which is what the suns needed-- player direction. Ariza is showing them the effort, practice, and communication to be winners.. Ariza is showing them how to be consummate professionals. He also isn't a liability.

On top, if you are the suns, you are confident when the time comes (mid seasonish) you can unload Ariza, even if for a minor asset.

I could see the Lakers nabbing him.

Riles creeping around, doing his thing. The S.O.B. will die holding a basketball. I hated the Rockets playing against his Lakers back in the day. What great teams he had, and he didn't screw things up. I still hate him. The Twin Towers had their number, though. You'd never know it during the season, the Rocks being 1-4 against the defending champions, but we broke their hearts in our series to determine who would win the conference and play for it all. Ralph shot "The Shot" to wrap it up, and then all we had to do was beat the incredible Celtics, Larry Bird being in year 3 of a string of MVP awards. Boston that year had one of the greatest teams in league history, and we were widely viewed by the media as the next dynasty, the Twin Towers anchoring a contender for the next decade. Fate had other ideas.

Why do people want to give up a pick for Ariza?
