Tillman couldn’t afford to pay Ariza

But it’s hilarious how only a few months later Morey came calling the Suns trying to reacquire Ariza.

    Interesting.

I guess the team knew Ariza was going to get paid and didn’t want to give him even 5m a yr.

I really thought a 3/18m would have got it done but maybe Morey thought long term that would be bad.

Obviously he got 15m for 1 yr so all bets are off after that offer.

I’m glad Ariza got paid now I hope wiz continue to suck and the buy him out.

Although with this new info it would take some major persuading from harden cp3 and tuck to get him to come back for a playoff run.

I’m sure GS and LA would offer him the same money we could and LA as us would prob offer him a starting spot.

What Trevor is probably not telling is that Morey knew Arias wanted more money than they were willing to pay.

i am sure they had some preliminary talks and Ariza wanted a raise.

ari a would not have solved the team's issues this year IMO.

with so of the money being thrown around I doubt he would have signed that offer he would have been getting a pay cut.

    That's how i read this.

    - didn't pay Ariza
    - didn't pay Luc
    - didn't use most of the MLE
    - traded an asset (Melton) to swap Anderson with two contracts easier to move

If we end up not using the rest of the MLE in the buyout market i guess there's no reason to not think it's all on the tax here.

    When did this happened? o_O

Their really wasn’t that much money being thrown around this past offseason tho.

That’s why the 15m was insane to begin with.

Although I guess it’ worked out for the suns in the end. They got oubre who’s a good Player.

I really think Ariza stays had we offered him something like that maybe not 18 but surely 21m should have gotten it done

not talking about the last off-season and it did not matter because he was signed immediately.

i was talking about previous years when the cap had risen, he was underpaid his entire time with the rockets and I bet wanted to make that up.

I don't blame him for wanting more but I don't think for a minute Morey did not explore bringing him back, there was some feeling out about numbers at some point last season.

I don’t think anyone even Ariza saw a 15m payment for 1 year coming at any point during last season.

I’m sure he was looking at trying to get a PJ tucker type deal.

I really think Ariza hates Morey after I watched tonight's game.

I think he was trying to get a raise which would have been more than that.

I don't think he was worth that IMO even if he was offered that, Ariza is not taking this team to a championship level.I

Ariza is a prideful guy I think he wanted to be paid as a difference maker if he stayed with the team

If true I wouldn't be mad at Morey for not matching the offer. What concerns me is Morey's lack of communication. That kind of stuff will draw bad blood.

If it was how much he was asking Morey should have just said that and why. For a guy to play as hard as he did for us he at least deserves an upfront reason. If Morey in fact didn't give him a reason then this concerns me far more than any thing else he has done with roster moves.
