Here is an article proving how college athletes are paid $17,000 in cash each year... all within the NCAA rules.

The guy who wrote the article says he worked in the athletic departments at Arkansas and Baylor. Here is a summary:

The typical non-freshman Arkansas football player received the cash listed below in 2010-11:

$5,500- Pell Grant
$500- Clothing Fund
$8,024- Fall and Spring Room and Board
$3,016- Summer Room and Board

$17,040- Grand Total

The gist of his article is that players get Pell grants each year. Since it is a grant, it never has to be paid back.

If you get a Pell grant, you are also awarded $500 for clothing each year.

They also get money to live off campus. At Arkansas, it was $4,021 for Fall semester, $4,021 for Spring, and $3,016 for the summer months.

That is $11,058 per year for rent.

He says a nice apartment in Fayetteville around the campus costs about $415 per person for a 2 bedroom apartment. So for a full year, that is $4,980... and that leaves $6,078 left to do whatever with for the year.

So they are getting $6,078 from the left over rent money, $5,500 from a grant, and $500 for clothes. Adding that up, that is $12,078 for the year after your rent, tuition, books, food, etc. are all paid for. That's an extra $12,078 left over for gas, food, clothes, leisure, whatever.

That's $1,006 per month left over after rent is paid.

AND, they get money from the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund, the Special Assistance Fund, and any occasional (legal) meals provided by boosters, which you can read more about in the article:

That article is bull****. Pell grants are not easy to get for upperclassmen. Room and board is paid for...but there is not a lot of money left for everyday expenses. I have a college football player in school now on scholarship and his definitely not rolling in money.

You've got that story wrong. He wasn't working as a pizza boy when he was playing football. He did that after he left Central Michigan and was going to community college.

Pizza changing moment

Watt played tight end at Central Michigan until his food-service industry sabbatical in 2007. He was taking classes at a community college in Waukesha, Wis., when a wake-up call came from a local kid who recognized the former Pewaukee High star on one of his deliveries.

The 10-year-old boy at the door turned that pizza run into a career-changing epiphany when he asked Watt why he wasn't playing football.

"That was a powerful day in my life, a humbling moment that reiterated my drive to be great and get to the top as a football player," Watt says.

He re-shaped his body, contacted Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema and after sitting out the 2008 season, Watt earned All-Big 10 2009 and 2010 honors.

Having that chance at U Ten was paramount in helping him get to where he is today. He's the last guy that should be complaining.

How many ex college players are there that don't go on to be pro players and make millions of dollars yet are thankful for the college experience and free education provided for them? Endless...

So because Arian's life turned out great, he shouldn't speak up about potential issues that others are facing now, most of whom won't go to star in the NFL. They'll have the scholarships pulled before they even make it to their senior year.

You can't tell me they are getting a "free education" when you can have your scholarship pulled because a better freshman is coming in or because your coach was fired or left for a better job and the new coach doesn't think you fit his system.
