Seems like he could be an okay backup for a team but he sure does bounce around a lot.

    10 teams in 6 years?

Looks like the game finally slowed down for him....he always had unique talent with his passing, but hes putting the ball in the hole, too...

I'm not sure where his defense is at though..but id we had better shooters, hed be nice to have, when Harden sits.

Why on earth are they letting him take this many shots which could be going to their younger, developing players?

Owner is tired of seeing the franchise embarrassed with Hinkie's approach.

Appointing Colangelo, D'Antoni and then bringing back Ish+Brand speaks volumes about owner's desire to stop this mess. Youngsters don't really develop if the team has no vets and leadership to teach these guys the game and what being an NBA player is about.

Right, but why on earth are they letting Ish Smith take shots which could be going to younger, developing players?

Or are you saying that a volume-shooting Ish Smith is going to make a difference to their w/l total?

Leadership and culture, I agree with. But Ish Smith as a semi-veteran floor general taking 15-20 shots is actually poor leadership, sets a terrible example for these guys.

Ownership are idiots if this is why they decided to change the plan. They should change the plan to create better winning habits for these guys. Ish Smith playuing like Kobe Bryant isn't going to do that.

And yet a scrub like Beverly continues to get paid by Morey. I'm convinced that he has absolutely no idea of what a real point guard is supposed to do. The idiot will goto the grave convinced that Harden running the offense is a good idea

Sounds like a good addition for a fantasy league team...playing for Philly is good for that.

In the real world, if he can't help Anthony Davis and NOLA, that says a lot. Leading up to the trade, NOLA was 4-0 in games Smith didn't score and playing less than 4 minutes each. One of those was against Lebron.

Ish is a plus defender and always has been. The "knock" on his game has always been his shooting. But he's always been one of those truly rare breed of players who was so good in other areas that it more than compensated for his bad shooting (ala Chuck Hayes). His defense and playmaking and taking care of the basketball while driving pace have always been excellent.

Ish is an example of the type of point guard I am convinced we need. The guy that can really play on the defensive end, and can penetrate and make all the passes on the other end because of his excellent floor vision, who is also very basketball smart and can avoid high turnovers while feeding guys on the inside and outside that other players could never find. Ish is the type of playmaker that should be the primary playmaker on a team like ours with two primary scorers/finishers (Harden/Howard) who are much better served scoring and finishing than trying to create. He's the type of point that could make James even more deadly by giving James more opportunities to shoot wide open shots while also allowing James to be the primary playmaker for our backup unit when they're playing the opponents reserves. This is where James could really make a lot of hay and would be a more efficient playmaker, against the opponent's second team. While our first unit would have less turnovers early and we'd create more foul count on the opponent because a true playmaker like Ish, Rubio is dishing early and often and finding guys where the opponent has to give up the easy bucket or commit the foul.

It's unfortunate that James doesn't appear to understand how a primary playmaker would benefit him and make his game even more deadly and undoubtedly turn him into an MVP winner, while helping us win a championship by decreasing our TO% and keeping us out of so much bad transition D.

This is all well and dandy but it's a mute point until Harden learns / wants to play off the ball. Ish off the ball would be a recipe for disaster just like Rubio or Rondo off the ball.

Harden, to me is a selfish guy who wants to win but only when he gets to dominate possession after possession and either score or assist. He has to find ways to score of the catch and shoot, make cuts, come off screens and pin downs. But if you watch closely, when harden doesn't have the ball he is pretty much rooted to one position

That is why I find it hard to believe we can win a championship without having a PG who handles majority of the possessions even when sharing the court with Harden. We have all seen how Harden doing all the ball handling is a recipe for disaster come playoff time when teams can lock in on him.

Ish Smith was getting nearly 30mpg with Davis and good shooters, racking up significant assists (easy to do with Davis and Ryan Anderson), before Tyreke came back, but NOLA was horrible. Very bad defense. Like bottom 5 worst. And a lot of that was on Ish Smith regressing into a negative defender.

He should have been able to help that team, but he didn't. He was essentially just a lousy stop-gap until Tyreke came back, who used the NOLA opportunity to beef up easy assists on his resume despite not being able to help NOLA at all win wise. Like I say...easy for PGs get simple assists with Davis and Ryan Anderson. Now he's on the worst team in the league
